Anyone can shed some light on associate in advisory? The thread is mostly about audit..

1. The starting pay in big 4, CH, Baker etc

2. Career prospect.

3. The job scope. Do associates get assigned to specific teams and jobs or they have to do random stuffs depending on the jobs and engagements the company accepted? Can you learn much?

Any insights would be appreciated

Please read prior posts, I believe the info you asked is well covered. If you plan to join big 4 advisory, there is no spoon feeding there.

Year 1 associate here in KPMG penang. Due to super high turnover rate and all the seniors leaving, we have to do literally all sections except inventory.  Interns replace our job in that sense.  Unhealthy workforce where year 1 associates >50% of total workforce (AM & below), some more partner still take in more and more engagements without increasing the workforce.

I guess u give and take, where everyday u got loads of new info coming in and u need to cope as fast as lightning.  The formal training is way more slower than what we had already learn informally.

overall the experience is beneficial if you are ok with learning new things every 2 weeks or so, given u deal with different clients of different industry (i.e some aunties u need to sweettalk them so u get the info u need).  stress is there everyday and it gets larger and larger.  if u want a steady pace of learning + training maybe consider other firms

Didn't know that there is a turnover rate in audit department. Guessed most of my peers have left. Good luck

doesn't make sense when its been a month and you still haven't heard of anything yet from them

agreed. from experience, always choose to email HR since you’ll get a quick response (latest also 2 days). and if she’s out of office, i’m sure you’ll get an automated email on an alternative HR to contact.

only call HR if you have their personal extension line, or else ar..... 99% the main line transfer you there, the phone will ring n ring n then putus

You can't join consulting/advisory if you can't afford to scroll a few pages back sweat.gif

your answer is there.

I did a 3 month internship in P department last summer, the clients I dealt with were mostly from the chemicals, oil and gas, manufacturing sector. K definitely deals with banks.

If you call everyday then it may seem desperate lah. Though finding them personally might be a little too much...

But I think it is reasonable to call on a weekly basis, especially its been quite awhile since the interview.

no offer letter = not done deal. so sadly, it’s just a bit like cakap kosong lah. personal opinion, be patient.. its hard but there is a chance.

AND it’s probably not a good idea to go straight away to Deloitte and ask coz well (i havent visited Deloitte but I’d noticed this for the other 3 big4s) you have to be a big4 employee (wearing their employee tag) to be permitted to enter the elevator. if not, you need to register at the reception and no appointment = you’ll be turned away.

Hi Im currently a full-time acca student and waiting for my last 3 F papers result.

Im thinking to get an internship preferably from big4 before starting the career.

Are you guys looking for any intern atm?  blush.gif
If so, could you be my referrer.
*
just apply.

heard stories + my observation is that referral at fresh grad level = fast track the process to interview stage only which you would get to anyway if you pass the initial screening. for interns intake - apply early (dont last minute apply, nov/dec intake you should apply at least 3 months in advance = early sept)

referrals are more useful or helpful when the person being referred to is being recruited in as an experienced hire.

hi, im just wondering if i stand a chance to get into big 4 with cgpa 3.1 & ACCA affiliate?
*
if you look at the criteria of 3.1 for Deloitte, slim/no. why? because their website ady state requirement is min 3.2

however, since you have acca affiliate i guess got higher chance. coz they wrote there d bachelor 3.2 or prof qualification.

so the chance is there, good luck and the real battle starts at the interview stage.

Is there any possibility that big 4 will reject applicant who has previously interned in their firm?
*
well, tbh depends on your performance during internship.

if you interned and going to grad (within 6 months-1 year), they will offer you if they like you + you performed

if you interned more than 1 year ago, you have to go through the whole process like normal applicant.

you’ll have a big advantage if you have interned there provided that you performed well.
