Yes. But sometimes when the stock is breaking out, it really does go much higher and you can make some good profit. As usual, there is no fixed rules.

Stock market is often irrational, we have stocks that fly up beyond what u can quantify or imagine.

See my holding HLIND, sleeping for entah how long, then when breakout, see where it is now? Who would have imagined it could reach current price? When to exit? No one knows.

Some time ago I asked here for some so-called sifu opinion on HLIND, diam saje sifu sifu sekalian...

Maybe I should have boasted about my super stock picking...I could have said "believe me, this stock will fly SOMEDAY" whistling.gif

If I correct, now I could boast.

If I wrong, who bothers to remember all my stock calls? rolleyes.gif

Yes, I noticed your HLIND when you mentioned it around 9.00. Good for you that you got in much earlier.

I was just wondering whether you think that GADANG is at a breakout stage. The chart seems to be like a cup and handle, but the handle part seems bery short. Not sure if that indicates anything.

YES!

Technically or should I say ideally....
the should have pulled back more...
hence a 'better' handle....

but from a perspective of what had happened...
the stock moved up strongly due to its 'better' (ahem) results.....
(oh I do have to say... the stock actually moved just before the announcement of the result... rolleyes.gif )
... and then it consolidated (which should be expected).....
but alas... the consolidation period was way too short.. (hence the kuci mai handle)

so...
it's not the perfect 'formation' .... (ahem)
and yes...
you are correct to say that it's breaking out to move higher (and of course the reason here is KYY promotion. LOL! )
(yeah... technically it should move higher too... tongue.gif )

that's my 3 sen worth.

Well, this is how it is everywhere. If you pick 10 or 20 or 50 stocks, chances are that some will go up and then you can say you pick correctly. Even the so called professional analyst reports don't always pick the ones that go up. And they are free to keep changing their target prices or revise their reports when conditions change. No one really knows what will happen. Sometimes its just luck I guess.

Its good that you have found what works for you.

I got it at 6.00+/-

I bought in purely based on fundamentals, not on charts or technical analysis or hot tip/rumours whatsoever, and it used to be a sleeping stock.

And now it suddenly become a stock to punt rclxub.gif

That's why my investing philosophy has always been - buy stocks that have solid fundamentals, so that IF no one were to goreng it up for u, at least u can fall back on dividends and earnings growth, price growth will naturally come later if the company does well.

Leave the punting and speculating thing to Lady Luck.

Yeah, I know you got it much cheaper. What I meant was that you mentioned it again when around 9.00 recently. That's when I was watching it as a matter of interest. I know you go based on FA. I don't know much about FA, so I check on TA more.

Thanks. So the handle does matter. I thought I read somewhere it should pull back around one-third at the handle. I must go search again to find articles on that.

... one thing about patterns....

people see what they want to see !

see
'sometimes' or many times you would not get the perfect pattern... that's one point.

and nowadays...
trading is more less of a game for many 'quarters'...
for instance...
when Gadang was consolidating/pulling back after its so called 'strong' results...
many eyes was actually watching the pullback...
how the pullback was very important...
but then.... they also are aware that...
any push during this pullback...
would create a 'good' looking enough a cup-and-handle formation...
this would be an 'easy' point for them to push...
market punters would be more than willing to lend them their 'arrows'....
which is why...
any stock can move on up despite its not so perfect pattern formation...
some called this as anticipation.
traders do trade based on anticipation....

for example...
in an likely double bottom formation...
why is it many chose (despite the risk) to base their stock entry on the anticipated 'second' bottom?
is that the proper way to trade a double bottom?

O'Neal's writings on cup and handles are legendary.... i think.

ps: tipsy where la dei. tongue.gif

Thanks again. Yeah, I am aware that charts can be "made-up" by market participants.

Tip. You must give before you can get. You no give, you no get...

1. The stale bull. That's one of the mson reason why it didn't move..in my opinion. It's next quarter might disappoint...i think. If I have to access the risk....I think there's more chances to disappoint than surprise. Even if the results strong...would the market react positively? No matter how I flip it...this doesn't look like a good bet for me.

Ps. I don't think like an investor when I am trading.

5. I would not be gung ho on the plastics either. Might hold if I have but I certainly won't be in.

Fei kei? Lol. You miss my posts in the thread? tongue.gif
Not much meat left in the trade.
In fact I think there's downside risks real soon.
To be clear...I am out. tongue.gif
