Which server provider would you recommend me if I want to run VPN and Transmission on it. Preferably Ubuntu OS.

Most server providers don't allow torrent    and why do you want to run torrent on a server

For VPN getting it from a VPN provider is better because you can always change servers if you feel that it is slow.

hmm okay, probably see how others reply to get a better overview of it. What router are you using? Asus? TP-Link? or Mikrotik router

I've replaced my stock router with a mikrotik router. If my mikrotik's AP cannot push that much of bandwidth(possible because I like to transfer files upstairs to downstairs using wifi) I can just get a more powerful AP to do that job instead.

Anyway, 1k+ for a router, what setup do you have at home

mine i ask the contractor dont install fibre termination box, the one you attached is FTB, i only have fibre Wall Socket

the reason is because there are two kind of fibre cable, from TM fibre termination point (pole) to your house external wall, is using better fibre cable can expose to sun, then from FTB to FWS is fibre cable that use for internal

the contract did as i requested for me
FTP --> external black fibre cable until internal of my house (FWS) --> BTU
the reason the contract ok to do so is because the black fibre cable only go into my house about 1meter, so dont have fibre termination box outside my house

if you want them to use the black cable to reach very far to the FWS, then unlikely they will do so

p/s: mine dont drill any hole, my double stoery landed, got a small balcony behind my house and the FWS and BTU just near the ceiling where i setup something to let those equipment sit there, and the contractor was so happy because he finish installed in 30 minutes

btw let's say if I were to apply for Unifi Advance 30 then after the installation terminate my VIP5, what are the things that I should consider of during the installation of Unifi Advance 30(I see that you need to give back the BTU so need to call them to install the new BTU? and what not )?

They'll provide all new equipment so no worries  Just make sure your contract is over for your VIP 5 double or triple confirm if you have to

the settings should be the same, except for the username password combination, so just change the username and pass?

I have this router model and I place the router on upstairs. It cannot cover much downstairs. Even got coverage also around 5-10Mbps (Using this model when I'm VIP20).
