You misunderstand me. If bank A offer 4.2% and bank B offer 4.0% for 1 year and both located next to each other, why should you choose Bank B over bank A? By choosing Bank B, one lose interest of 0.2%! It is same as giving Bank B the 0.2! Compare apple to apple and orange to orange. One cannot compare 1 year and 5 years as one might no want to lock in money for 5 years. Hence I give the example of Bank A vs Bank B. Same location, same term. Only different is the interest rates. All banks are the same (I am talking about pidm banks). The differnece is whether  have to wait long time, comfortable seats, air-conditioning working or not and got leng lui/leng chai only. tongue.gif
*
so, now you include other factors are to be considered la? didnt see you put these terms when u advise others to go for other banks and claimed "dont give bank free money", right?

point being, not everyone can access every banks. that's the reason why some other choose fd with lower rate.

there are many other deciding factors. there are alway pros and cons to any bank, promo, T&Cs.

one fact for sure: nobody would complaint having too much money.

Too bad, I will need the cash by end Dec & currently do not have any a/c in cimb sad.gif
*
best logical option for u is maybank islamic efd 1mth, rm5kk min, 3.25% p.a. rate.

maturity just nice before December if u place tomorrow. or, u can even roll for 2 cycles, ending December (if the maturity is before ur need to utilize it)

don't worry too much about the other big promo rates. only go for it if your cashflow is favourable to you, convenient locations, etc

Follow what cybpsych said. But choose Islamic efd. Don't choose the conventional one. Islamic efd give you 3.25%. Conventional gives only 3.15%.

The above is valid if you have >=rm5k. If you have less than that, choose ambank Islamic efd at 3.15%.  Minimum is rm1000 smile.gif

By the way, cybpsych, correct your posts to maybank Islamic efd. Not just any efd. If he put conventional efd, he only get 3.15%. Giving maybank free 0.1% doh.gif
*
u sure u don't need to correct this post also?

my correction was 2 mins before u posted this.

Thank you for the answer~
I always wonder what does it mean ~ sweat.gif
*
means the promo rate is only applicable for 1 cycle (4-month tenure). <--- doesnt make sense if bank keeps renewing with same promo rate perpetually, right?

once matured, it will auto-renew (next cycle) to board rate (non-promo rate).

Nope no good. Cause by putting in normal savings account, one is not getting the real effective rates. Your effective rates is drastically reduced. That's why we don't talk about this kind of CASA - FD here. mad.gif vmad.gif

who says we don't talk about casa-fd here?

Hi everyone - tried to read 50 pages but got a little confused along the way.

Looking for MBB 12-mth pure FD promo (capital & interest guaranteed).  What is the name of the promo with effective rate of 4.5%?

Many thanks.
*
none from Maybank.

the 4.5% 12mth GIA-i is capital & profit NOT guaranteed. read here

Hi,
I just make a rm5000 Islamic Fixed Deposit-i placement in m2u for 1 month (3.25%p.a)
But the the profit rate is written : "Rate as declared on maturity date"
What does this mean? I was expecting 3.25% p.a as stated from their website.
http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...al/ACC-Accounts
*
After placement, you can save the PDF [Receipt] as reference. You can also retrieve the copy inside SA > M2U History.

This receipt will tell you exactly the % rate and profit.

It's now classified as "Islamic FD" (f.k.a "Term Deposit-i") whereby the profit rate is fixed upfront during placement and the profit is guaranteed.

Nom-el nicely explained the definitions here.

I wonder if it's the same FD product.

Maybe those who are not LYN member? tongue.gif Well I can think of only 2 reasons
a) lazy to go chasing FD promos (too rich)
b) lazy to move money around  (too troublesome for them)

Well their loss. There are PB. I haven't counted the ordinary folks like the Unker and aunties I saw. Imagine how much free money the banks are earning. shocking.gif

Unker just using you as Eg. Don't get angry la. biggrin.gif  what I am saying is Eg people who put 6 digit FD, by the banks renewing at promo rates rather than board rates, lesser chance people will move their money. Hence they don't need to offer promo every now and then.

What I am saying is if they renew at promo rates, chances of customer like me who only care about high interest won't run away.
I guess that's true but taking one day off from work per month to chase FD promos I think is doable? No
*
why are you so obsessed about banks doing their businesses?

please channel your displeasure to BNM instead of here.
