The 6 months 4.25% is very good and can get the 20" trolley. Now have to change my strategy on Monday FD placement.

Their 6 mths with 20" bag looks attractive as compared to the 4.2% offered by UOB and OCBC. But UOB not sure 4.2% still avail. by Monday.

It depends on the individual. For me, have spread out to 1 mth, 1/2/3/5 yrs FD. Now going for the 6 mths FD. Instead of putting in with OCBC/UOB, move some more funds to AmBank to get 4.25 and one bag !

CIMB 4.3% as reported is good. But some how questions posted by other forumers not yet answered. If valid, I will also go for the 4.3% !

This morning checked for the MBB acct. The GIA-i "profit" did not show yet. As I mentioned before likely to be the date that we placed for it. So will check on the 5th.

My relative went to UOB branch to withdraw FD. Was told run out of BC !! Was asked to do RENTAS instead. Paid RM5.30 for the RENTAS. Is there some other problem that they are having or hiding ?

UOB as a foreign bank, how can they have such issue ? Earlier this year I also have problem with them on run out of account number in that branch ! Ridiculous !

Tomorrow going there also to withdraw as well ! Heard that even for a big sum they will not allow RM10k top up to get promo rate. Anyway their 4.2% promo ends already. I am targeting AmBank 6 mths 4.25% with a 20" bag and 2 yrs 4.6%, MBB 4.5%, MBSB 4.5% ! May keep some in UOB/OCBC for their 4.2% (UOB may continue with the 4.2% in Nov, but tomorrow will ask them).

Tuesday will also be busy doing the musical chair !

Doing FD Musical Chair today (also tomorrow).

In UOB Penang Kelawai Rd branch. Went to the PB centre. So bypass the normal customer service counter which have to go to first before going to their counters for various transaction. gsc has reported this a short while ago. Which is kind of troublesome as a person has to go to 2 counters.

So UOB Penang PB counter solved this issue. Got BC for RM0.68 each, taken 2 BC from them.

Quite a number of uncles and aunties up there in the first floor. While waiting, the PB service desk received calls like non stop asking about the latest FD rate. UOB 12 mth rate up to 4.25% until end Dec. (will attach the flyer later).

Met with my RM and got stuck for minutes.

Went to CIMB to place FD. Before I went, already called to enquire about the rates. For 100k, said 4.2%. Said people getting higher, then the lady asked for amount. Later said can get 4.3% for 12 mths. When I was there asked for even higher rate, the RM said 4.2% to 4.3% can get immediate approval. For higher rate need HQ approval. She will call me later to confirm.

Process in CIMB is super fast. Few minutes only. Already have acct in another CIMB branch. This branch said no need to open another acct as can use the other acct. Previously was CIMB PB but cancelled it as they wanted to charge if AUM <250k. Today signed up again and get 2 gifts.

So which "fishy" name is more appropriate ?

It is actually as you said, a passport holder and a cheque book holder. Initially she said passport holder but I asked for some more and she produced the cheque book holder (though I did not have CA with CIMB).

You did get both, right ?

You can try. The RM called me and I got 4.35%.

I did not get a receipt at that time as she will call me if get approval for higher rate. Will only get the slip may be tomorrow. Thinking of going there again tomorrow to place another one.

Yes, mine 4.35% already show up in my online account. It is an unfixed FD. The RM persuaded me not to break into various cert as I can take out 10k segments.

Part 2:

CIMB RM called back and got 4.35% !! Initially I thought she is just say say only as I already passed BC to her. Anyway happy that I got the extra 0.05% as it amount to >RM100 free money from CIMB !!

Went to AmBank to place for the 6 mth 4.25% and 24 mth 4.6%. Was told likely to get the 20" bag for the 6 mth FD. Anyway, have to wait and see.

Also take the opportunity to open TRUE Savers & TRUE Transact acct. Yet to read the details of the benefits of these 2 accounts. Have to deposit RM50 each to open the 2 accounts. Mainly know that the interest rate is high at 2.8%. Will use it to park any temporary funds in the future. Got a debit card which I was told no annual fees yet. Will cancel it if they impose annual fees.

The ABM told me RM50 each. Anyway I can always ibg it out. Already shown online and ready for moving out or stayput.

Not sure how the TRUE Savers acct can help me to "squeeze" more free money from AmBank. We will see. I normally do not keep much money in SA.

Officially CIMB 12 mth is 4.2%. Getting to 4.3% probably need to ask. To 4.35% need approval from HQ. Did not ask or get flyer. Tomorrow will likely place another one (4.35%) there, already talk to the RM this evening. The 4.35% need some higher amount of principal. Will see if there is official flyer but likely to show 4.2% 12 mths.

I will put the interest into another FD, not into SA for long.

Tomorrow will try to get flyer. But for sure you cannot quote the 4.35% 12 mths !

Hahaha, anyway they print it as "CIMB preferred". Last time not sure what gift I received, then I drop out when they want to charge monthly if AUM falls below 250k.

So you receive other PB gifts or nothing as you mentioned earlier ?
