Hi... I started with FSM SG early this year, mostly put in Asian ex japan funds and it's not exactly doing great
Any recommendations for the funds you like?
They have really a lot of funds and make me so pening  sweat.gif

Great to hear that, I also received PM as well from forummer asking about FSM SG.
My favorite Asia ex japan fund goes to First State Dividen Advantage which give me quite decent of return IRR @ 13.08% for more than 2 and half years. But still lose abit to my Ponzi 2.0 performance la.. tongue.gif

Or you might start a thread focus about FSM SG and do not mix with long go version here, later make ppl lagi pening kepala. rclxub.gif

Maybe 3 ringgit to 1 sing dollar is the correct level that will remain for years; things don't have to be like the stock market where there can be a sharp rebound after each sharp drop, take for example the gold price of 1600/oz correcting to lower than 1200/oz and staying there after the correction.

For years we have higher inflation than Sing, and wage raises in respond to inflation, not due to productivity and efficiency. Like price of chicken rice going up, but chicken rice seller doing the same work year after year.

It would not be right if we, with our higher wages, pay more to the chicken rice seller here, but pay the chicken rice seller in Sing in sing dollar the same cost as previous years. The currency exchange rate is the 'unseen hand' correcting the difference.

The 'unseen hand' cannot be easily noticed. It is never to due one or several factors influencing the market. So don't trust any 'theory' that say that the market can be re-corrected by adjusting or eliminating a handful of factors.

If the forex rate is so easily manipulated by adjusting a few factors, smart people would have done it a long time ago and the forex rate would have been 1 ringgit to 1 sing dollar ages ago.

laugh.gif ... says this economist. Think first before you take any advice into consideration, it can lead you to the land of tulips. If you see tulips, don't have to thank me for the directions.

This forex thingy is a double-edged sword... it cuts both ways. When MYR strengthen against SGD, then you'll wish for the other way.

1) My question is, investing in equity is already a risk (market risk);

2) investing in a foreign equity add on another layer of risk (market + country specific risk);

3) buying foreign asset using a foreign currency is just piling on the risk (market + country specific / political + forex risk)

Why take on so many unnecessary risks? When you calculate your portfolio risk-reward ratio, you'll go rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Stay safe in motherland lar!

Huh, really? That is news to me and apparently also news to some forumers here (judging from their replies).

I am puzzled. Why would a Singaporean invest in FSM Malaysia? Wouldn't FSM Singapore be a better choice with such a wide range of funds and zero entry fee?

Hi Pinky, don't misunderstand me. I have nothing against Singaporeans. tongue.gif

I am further consolidating the number of funds that I have. Too many funds now....getting killed in the cross fire. rclxub.gif

When I have enough moolah, I may kick start my supplementary portfolio again or start a small gambling portfolio again.

For now, I have to concentrate on my core portfolios.

Xuzen I think pinky doesn't care about the forex risk. How much can he lose? SGD will always outperform rm anyday. Even if RM strengthen, it will never be SGD1:RM1 but always SGD1 :RM2.x

But Pink Spider really Singaporean? shocking.gif
