Hi all,

Need input regarding rough draft of PC build after couple days of research. Budget 4.5k.
Mainly for gaming/work. (Aiming for 1080p high setting on games like Witcher) and AutoCAD/Matlab.

Only prefer to keep the casing as below but other components can be changed if there are better/cheaper options

Casing: Enthoo Pro
Motherboard: Asus B150 Pro Gaming Aura
CPU: Core I5 6400
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX
GPU: Asus GTX 960 DCII Strix
RAM: Kingston D4 2133 8gb
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
PSU: Seasonic M12II520 EVO (any other modular/semi-modular options?)

If you aren't playing graphical demanding games or can accept lower graphics settings, then you can downgrade to GTX960 or R9 380 and slot in SSD if you wish.

was wondering can i use SSD just for boot up comp and hd for the rest (don't need so much as i have a NAS for videos and pic)
is water cooling necessary?

XCOM 2 is quite a hardware demanding games, if 3k budget is just for the rig (excluding monitor) then you can go for this.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 795
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 289
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 196
Asus GTX960 4GB GDDR5 Turbo - RM 927
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 209
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 185

Total: RM 3004 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

cutting things short, jumping from fx8350 to skylake 6600k with plans going on to 6700k later due to work requirements - after effects/3d works/games

budget is 2.5k
confirm is
a)i5 6600k - rm1033
b)thermaltake s31 - rm321

need help recommending on
1) mobo - currently Asus Z170 Pro Gaming fits my budget nicely -rm705
2) ram - 8gb single for now,another 8gb later - KINGSTON HYPER-X FURY 8GB DDR4 2666MHZ RAM -rm249

im using cooler master cm690 II right now, would it be wiser if i just use this case first and go straight for 6700k?
or change case now, and upgrade cpu later? the cm690 works fine just that its a freakin dust magnet.

Get i7 6700K straight away, if you pick i5 6600K now and when you want to upgrade next time, you loss out a lot.

Case can be upgraded next time.

If light gaming then X4 860K is fine, Intel Core i3 costs at least RM 450 (for new unit), if budget doesn't allow you to get i3 which has better single threaded performance then just pick X4 860K, but it is a very aged platform which has zero upgradeability.

Your budget can fit Skylake i7 (slightly better and cheaper combo compared to Xeon E3 1230 V5 + C232 mobo) without any problem.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1318
Gigabyte H170-HD3 (D4) - RM 486
Kingston 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 392
Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB SSD - RM 405
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 185

Total: RM 3363 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Included a decent PSU as the preparation for future GPU/other hardware upgrade.
