Is this the same as the launch party advertised on Microsoft Lumia Malaysia's FB page (which they're having the contest for)? If it is, then I don't quite see what the point of the contest is

The other one is an event by Windows Developer Malaysia in conjunction with the main launch event. The one on the FB page is the official Microsoft launch event. They are different events.

This is probably the ONLY point left to get a W10 Mobile phone.

Other Windows 10 devices can actually mean laptops too

Lumia 550 probably only launching next year while Xiaomi won't be officially selling anything Windows 10 here this year also. So only thing it means is other laptops/ultrabooks/tablets running Windows 10. Like the very nice HP Spectre x2

Maybe just showcase for the XiaoMi Windows 10.
Hope to see more Windows 10 tablets.

I think they can't showcase Xiaomi stuff also, 1st of all not really under Microsoft, then what's announced is really just for China for now.

According to Panos Panay, the Surface phone or Panos Phone) won't be revealed until late 2016/early 2017. Delay because they are waiting for Intel to finish development of their x86 capable phone processor. So its going to be a long time to wait.

you must be rich to be able to afford surface book...i can predict even the entry spec would be > RM5k. it is a very good 2-in-1 but the price is too over for me..

Nah. I don't drive a car, go on holiday, and have a kinda cheap apartment with my girlfriend. We use all our money on Tech .

Thing is, Microsoft might not release Surface Book here at all, because of price and lack of interest from here. If they do decide to sell, it'll probably be released around the end of January/February. If I decide to get the Book or Pro 4, I'm getting it from US and not from here, because the price here is horrible.
