Just wondering, does the continuum available for all devices with WP 10 or just mid-top range phone because in my opinion, the hardware plays an important part in this feature aside from software.
Actually, its not because of the high bandwidth of USB Type C since you can use the Continuum feature through Miracast.
It limited only on the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL because both of them are using the Snapdragon 808 and 810 which actually support dual display mode. You can see it at the Snapdragon website (notice on the word "concurrent" that they use):
Snapdragon 810 : Snapdragon 808 : For comparison, here's how the Snapdragon 800 specs are stated :
oh..good point..
still im wondering how hot 950/XL can reach for Microsoft to come out with liquid cooling...
Yeah that's the thing, they intro with an old hardware, even many page still writes Continuum is available to phones running on Windows 10 Mobile, based on those article it was all written this year April after the demo, now sadly which is not true but lets hope they allow us to have semi continuum feature
Comparing the older processor and the new SD808/SD810, how much in percentage of those processors compare to older version of processor does it vary?
IMO, processor plays a great role in Continuum as Continuum enable user to display on monitor and also at phone at different interface and also instance. Except there is option to like share the interface of phone and also at the monitor (meaning using the phone..but on monitor).
I suppose they can make it like mirroring your phone interface to start menu, then black out the phone only keep call function intact. so it wont be that heavy to process both screen doing individual stuff... hence the semi continuum
yea..if continuum have that option, mid-range phone can run continuum smoothly (i guess)..
I'm still worrying about the heat generated if using continuum...with the overheat issue on the processor. i wonder if using continuum for long time will burn the phone..
