What about the apps? Can install android apps? Have few important app that I must to use everyday my company's apps
*
The Lumia 950, like all other Windows phones will run apps found on the Microsoft app store. You cannot install android apps (i.e. apk files), but if the Android app has a Windows version, then no problem.

if that's the price in Msia, i think i'll pass...wait for Surface Phone..
*
Windows Central says (and they're confident about it) that we're not to expect any other high-end MS windows phone after the L950/XL for a year. If there is a Surface Phone, I'd think this would fall in the high-end/flagship category. If true, can wait that long? tongue.gif

Looking on the brighter side of things, if the 950XL is RM3k, then the logical conclusion is that the L950 should be cheaper than RM3k? Maybe still can consider. Hehe

oh..read the new about the Project Astoria on hold. Still..hope that it would be a success..
*
It's okay if they don't revive Astoria because Islandwood is still up and running, and apparently the functionality is better when porting over from iOS apps. I don't think there are any major apps which are on Android but not on iOS, so as long as Islandwood exists, the potential is still there.

Signup for free attendance to launch event on 15 Dec

Is this the same as the launch party advertised on Microsoft Lumia Malaysia's FB page (which they're having the contest for)? If it is, then I don't quite see what the point of the contest is blink.gif

And also the venues are different hmm.gif

damn digi business plan, RM238/24mo for both 950 and XL, and XL still needs to top RM 330
*
What are the allowances involved for that? Sounds a bit like a rip off. shocking.gif Could probably still do cheaper with a separate data plan and just buying the phone on an instalment plan with the shop/banks (interest-free, of course).

Just got mine from DD yesterday laugh.gif

Anyone having some alert whole night non-stop? I wonder if it is the phone update alert, woke up at 4am and phone drain 60% from 100% at 11pm...
*
Did you reserve/pre-order yours beforehand? I tried calling DD yesterday afternoon and they said all the units for 950/950XL got sold out over the weekend. New stock expected to come in sometime this week, but no commitment cry.gif

How much ? Got free dock ?

I asked and they said no free dock. And no installment payment, in case that's something worth considering.

Price of the 950XL had indeed came down based on several web reports
I just order my 950XL for RM 2439 from 11th street : initial report from their Facebook was supposedly to be RM2649!!

This changes everything. Now need to decided whether to break the bank for this month rclxub.gif Haha

But what does it mean when the 11street listing states it as an "(Import)"? Will this be any different from the units by the MS authorised resellers?

Guys I'm interested in Windows phone but then I read this. Any truth in this?
*
It's all very subjective and over-exaggerated, to be frank. The issues pointed out seem more like the usual "app gap" issues which are made out to seem like your daily life will come to a halt due to W10M's "lack of apps" or the apps not being good enough.

I say subjective because personally Twitter and Whatsapp on W10M work perfectly fine for me. Twitter boots up fast and has all the functionality I need. To me Whatsapp has the best UI compared to the Android and IOS version, and I've used all of them due to have differing work mobiles.

Yes, Instagram is still in beta. There's no real tumblr app, etc. These issues have workarounds with third party applications like 6tag, mytube, etc., some of which seem to work better than the official apps on Android.

Other than that, W10M has spotify, foursquare, uber, the list goes on. It depends on what type of user you are to really say that the app gap is of any real significance, and only you have that answer.

Always think of getting a window phone...950 is sufficient?
*
If you're not in a rush, I'd suggest waiting until the end of the month after Mobile World Congress to see what's coming up in terms of Windows Mobile.

Tentatively some appealing potentials are the Xiaomi Mi5 and a new rumoured high-spec phone from HP. I personally haven't gotten a 950XL because I'm waiting to see what's coming up.

If these specs are true, and if it's priced similar or less than the 950XL, then this will definitely be my next phone.

Based on the MS US store (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Microsoft-Lumia-950-XL---Unlocked/productID.326602300?tduid=%28ab80858a5c797d8f37a3d69c129899fd%29%28259740%29%282542549%29%28d_wp%29%28%29), seems like the 950XL is out of stock. Cant order, instead there's an "Email me when available" button

this is another thing, I just notice that this device comes with single sim and dual sim option. And im more interested in single sim. But, it is save to buy this imported phone ?

Thank you
*
Are you referring to the listings on 11street? I recall someone buying an "imported" 950XL from 11street a while ago, and there were no issues at all. Should be relatively fine, I guess. That seller has majority positive reviews.

yes u are right. But the thing is, the shop is not in Malaysia, but in China. Plus they sell it on lazada too. Do you think it safe ? That person who bought the imported 950xl, is he a member of lowyat forum ?
*
Yes, forum member. He bought for testing and recently sold it off:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3926369

From his posts here, he never indicated that there was anything wrong with the "imported" phone. Nothing dodgy, at least.
