thanks for replying

so far what type of maths have you learnt? I mean like more to like statistics or things like complex numbers?
may I know how's the programming modules like? Do they start from really basic stuffs? cause since I never learn computer stuffs during secondary school and pre-u, I'm afraid I won't be taught from the beginning during uni

So, will they?
if u exclude foundation , so far i learned discrete math and probability and Mathematical Techniques , both require knowledge in algebra , statistic and probability , trigonometry , calculus .
And yes they will teach from the beginning (as far as i know)
but i must tell you that everyone is different when learning new thing ,
for me i can keep up quite easily because i learned some of the basic during my foundation times plus i have friends that is good at programming (same as me ,never learned programming but maybe they can understand the lecture better i guess ?)
below is my own opinion please take it as a grain of salt

From my observation i can say that in 100% of student
60% is sit at the back and play games
40% is those siting in front and listening to the class
when lecture ask question for people sitting at the back , they can't answer even the answer is written on the whiteboard rofl
in those 40%
10% is those which had already master almost all things in C++ (self learn i suppose)
30% is those which had some knowledge or basic (like me)
60% is those that enter degree with A level or STPM or GCE (which have no knowledge about coding [and yes i asked them, they really never learn coding before])
Even for me i am still learning new things about coding
The most important thing is that if u go to every lecture class and tutorial/lab class if u do alot of exercise
u will realize that most of the thing are just keep repeating or the same pattern just with different variable
just ask question if you don't understand

just like math
if you really don't understand , u also can ask the lecture , i never experience been decline by a lecture to ask any question ,
but debugging is another story , some lecture just straight up dislike or decline request for fixing bug since
it really will took a long time depend on the complexity of the code

( i just debug a problem which i forget to put a { bracket and just wasted 3hr just to find out why the code doesn't give me the output that i wanted
I THINK I SHOULD REALLY SLAP myself

)
till now i only learned C++(in foundation and degree) and assembly language(foundation only)
For me the most hardest part would be group project

(which is the thing i am doing now , btw sorry for the late reply )
sometimes while you are writing the code BUT some function that you want to use isn't taught in syllabus , you just have the search through the internet to find that solution , quite challenging but satisfied when u achieve it
on the side note , i really think that u can do well since your already passed A level
unlike me failed my STPM and start over at foundation level

Thank you for the explaination
I thought of software engineering before, but I always struggle for maths (I mean add maths) and I prefer to do a more applied one like IS.
tbh, I'm not considering XMUM at all that's why I'm finding ways to say no to my dad

I'm looking at MMU cause the IT society has good reviews and since I won't be staying at hostel if I'm studying in Selangor or KL, I don't want to spend most of my time on travelling to campus. Transport fare maybe cheap but it's a waste of time (my past experience was really awful)
but in your opinion, which uni, MMU or APU better for IS?

and for your information i get C in additional math in my SPM and A for my biology , my father really opposite me to study IT and wanted me to further in biology,
but i really dislike biology and somehow i manage to convince him to let me study IT
and if your talking about
not spend most of the time on travelling to campus
i can tell u that mmu melaka is quite small
( i live at emerald park)
if the class is at 8am , i usually wake up at 7.25 brush teeth ,breakfast and poop or etc, 7.45 walk to class , usually sitting in class around 7.55am
MMU is just the opposite of my hostel , when i open the window i can already see the main entrance
btw i don't recommend you drive to MMU Melaka , quite hard to find parking space inside the campus unless u want to park outside of MMU melaka
and somehow i manage to survive even my crappy maths
