Hey guys I was wondering if it was possible for me to do Software Engineering/ Computer Science in this institution without having done mathematics in my alevels.

I did however take maths and add maths in SPM and did get the required credits for both.
MMU is in my list of choices honestly, and it would be a bummer for me to have to pass this up. Cause honestly, I'm not as interested in other institutions such as Sunway, APU and INTI which isn't really up my alley despite the fact that their requirements are a lot more lenient.

I suppose so (if we're talking about STEM), but apparently, I found out two things.
( this doesn't apply to engineering degrees which require foundation or Phys+Maths+Chem in Alvls)
Other institutions ie: Sunway, INTI, UTAR offers computer science/software engineering programmes to students who have merely Add. Maths credit from SPM.
(I guess that would say a lot about their standards to an extent)
I would've added other unis into the list, but I didn't look into detail as to their syllabus to figure out if its a IT degree masqueraded in a CS degree
(while they also had courses labelled as IT courses), which is what APU/APIIT/UCTI course looks like after getting feedback from some lecturers.

That being said though, I suppose if I did want to re-do engineering the way to go, is to repeat a year in foundation. But aside from that, it seems that it would take more time and money, just for "one subject" and one could also do a credit transfer on my second year on a different institution's under-graduate programme so as long as the student passed their assessment or met their requirements (at least this holds true for Monash)

To answer your question though, I jumped from Science Stream to Arts during A-levels after SPM thinking I should pursue accounting or law.
Subjects that I took were : Business, Law, Accounting and Thinking Skills

I've actually been to MMU many many times and have cousins studying there. I've done thorough research, but I don't think I'll want to take another year in foundation just for one subject to do CS or SE. Because it's only maths which I require. (I understand it's different if I'm considering Engineering, but that isn't the case tbh)

And tbh, I initially didn't want to take foundation, cause a lot of lecturers said I was better off taking a-levels and going through subject to get a feel for it, but I totally overlooked the difference in requirement in government linked private unis as they want "higher standard students" . (totally my bad there)

But I think I'll either be headed to Sunway or Inti and then transfer to Monash, or perhaps just take  ADP in Taylor's or somewhere else and go to US
The price is going to be hefty but Sunway's campus is pretty good too and is lively as well.
Inti and Monash, can't say so much tho..
(See how la the ADP part, my family is currently insisting I go for double degree in Finance+CS and not just one field..)

Edit: The requirement to do CS is Add. Maths credit in SPM for Sunway/INTI/APU . So I think the additional 20k that it costs to study in Sunway (CS in MMU is 60k, Sunway is 80k), saving one year isn't too bad.  Plus considering that taking a foundation year in MMU is probably going to cost about 15k-20k + 1 year. So I think it's about the same in the end.

Can't comment on hostel inside MMU  but in average condo in Cyberjaya is considerably bad. I see lots of seniors lecturers live in puchong, sri kembangan, kajang etc.
Most of the time you hear a lot of *ahem* people talking loud in the midnight. You can get a nice one if you are lucky though, I have one friend got one very cold and silent. Thats why I recommend new comers must find one without contract.
Cool part about cyberjaya is you can access to TIME fibre, RM149 for 100mbps and 3ms ping to 8.8.8.8

Now I let you know what I see in Cyberjaya (Might not facts, just what I see), not MMU. It is a place where everything is overpriced. This is how it works - The IT industry wasn't so strong when mahadir established the Malaysian's silicon valley, but the investors goreng the price really high because it's silicon valley, however it doesn't worth the value. The government want to make here a nice place thus invested a lot of money in cities planning like nice roads and designs (You see grass here are actually very well maintained). Dedicated police force here (You see a lot of police here). To pay those maintenance, those high price are needed. But what those price offers are not much, no local foods (I meant not enough, just 1 or 2, and they are not nice imo. I often drive to dengkil or sri kembangan to have cheap and nice local food, like RM5-RM7, I would pay RM15-RM17 if they were in cyberjaya but even in cyberjaya RM17 can't get those taste), no pasar pagi / malam (afaik), no jusco/tesco (have jaya gorcer), even in 'silicon valley' we don't have an IT mall. So, everything became expensive and don't actually offer the convenience.

I live here because the academic environment is really much better here. I have few friend taking same subject in melaka, I finished my final and go teach them. They don't even understand what their lecturers told them but few sentences from me they fully understand in few seconds. The students here also much passionate than what I see in melaka. Don't get me wrong, there are good ones in melaka, just what I averagely sees.

Living wise, can't compare with melaka. Melaka was one of the best place I ever live even compared to overseas such as UK, Japan or HK. Everything is so near and cheap, convenient and safe. Complete silent in the midnight.

Not recommended, unless u really dont have budget.

2 or 3 ppl have to stay in such a small room and there is hot like hell till I have to sleep on the floor almost every night last time.

And if u dont have a transport, u only have a few options for your daily meals which are at FCM cafe, Dean Cafe, CFC, 7-eleven and that's all.

While the bright side is affordable hostel fees, and it is including the water bill, internet bill and electrical bill. They even only charged you by daily if u are on sem break, which mean u dun need pay the fees during sem break. BUT this is based on my experiences from 2 years + ago. Not sure how they manage it now     

FUN FACT TIME: There is a whole new CANTEEN near the male hostel but it never open until now (at least on May 2018). 
I can assure that it is already 2 years +  they had abandoned it since they had finished the construction of the so called "Canteen".

Beta. 7 degree students in total. Although, Foundation in Engineering program has quite a lot of students. Is this the first time that MMU had such a low engineering student record?

Wow! Do you know why there's such a low number of students?

It's kinda hard to get friends especially for introvert person like me 😅😅. Everytime I stop for a moment and sit on a chair around the campus, literally everyone at least walk to classes or other places in the campus with their buddies.

Even worse, I could not even find a single friend from my faculty. It's not that I don't want to talk to them, it's just that it's overwhelm me everytime I see them with somebody they know. I've heard that you cannot survive college life if you don't have friends.

To the senior who basically went through the same situation as me, how do you cope with it? I'm thinking of joining club but I don't know when it open for registration. Does being in the club gives you some extra pointer or is it just for fun one?

Is there anyway to boost up the speed at the Cyberjaya hostel? I'm using the LAN one and when running the speedtest only get below 5 mbps most of the time. With this speed, I can't play online games & stream youtube constantly at 1080p

You may think that I'm whining for the price that I'm paying for the hostel but this is the only way for me to entertain myself as I don't have car to go around sightseeing and friends (even my roommate rarely talk to me because he most of the time spend time with his high school friend).

Is there any limits on how many clubs that student can join?

Last question, does the club registration done every early new semester or it is done once every year?
