Real life Call of Duty: Jihadists attach go-pro to a TANK and a drone to film terrifying propaganda video of battle against Iranian force

QUOTE
A coalition of rebels, including the Nusra Front, announced on Saturday that they had taken back control of Tal Bajer in the countryside south-west of Aleppo, after losing it to Syrian troops backed by Lebanese Hezbollah fighters and Iranian forces two weeks ago.

The video purports to capture the operation that led to them reclaiming the town, showing Iranian forces fleeing as the extremists advance.

It was released on Sunday by the group's media wing, White Minaret.

A drone shot shows a tank pulling into what appears to be a jihadist base in an area of scrubland. A number of armed fighters dressed in black come out and pile into tanks and vehicles parked outside.

The jihadists set off into the desert, their mission to kill Iranian troops captured from the drone flying hundreds of metres overhead.

Other shots are taken on a GoPro attached to the barrel of a large gun on one of the tanks, showing the devastation it causes as it runs into the town.

Sound effects of heavy gunfire have been added to the video, adding to the cinematic feel.

Who Will Win Asia's Fifth-Generation Fighter Race?

user posted image

QUOTE
China

As The Diplomat has covered extensively, China is currently in the process of developing two different models of fifth generation fighters. The Chengdu Aerospace Corporation J-21 is supposed to be the People’s Liberation Army Air Force’s (PLAAF) version of the U.S. Raptor. Although much of the information surrounding the J-21 is unavailable, it is probably primarily intended as an air superiority fighter. This is due to the fact that it is primarily equipped with hardpoints for air-to-air missiles, including the short-range PL-9 and the long-range PL-12 and PL-21.

Like many of the PLAAF’s jets, important issues remain with the J-21’s twin-engine propulsion. It is currently unknown what kind of engine powers the aircraft, but it is assumed that this is either the indigenously designed WS-10 or the older Russian Saturn AL-31F. China is developing a new turbofan, the WS-15, which will be exclusively used by the J-21. It is currently unknown how near completion this engine is today. In the meantime, as reported by Franz-Stefan Gady for the Diplomat, there is speculation that China will attempt to reverse-engineer some of the technology in the Russian Saturn AL-117S turbofans installed in the Sukhoi Su-35, of which China has recently announced that it will buy 24 units. According to the PLAAF, the J-21 will be fully operational by 2018, although this timeframe is questionable and may be optimistic.

This is also true for PLAAF’s F-35 counterpart: the Shenyang J-31. Like the J-21, much of the specifications surrounding the J-31 are classified, but it is reasonable to assume that it is intended to provide advanced defense capabilities in close-air support, aerial bombing, and air interdiction operations. It can also perform suppression of enemy air defenses and can be used as a carrier-based fighter on China’s future aircraft carriers. Initial operational capability of the aircraft is expected in 2020. Like the F-35, China announced last month that it is intending to export the J-31. Unlike its U.S. counterpart, it has yet to find any buyers.

Some in the U.S. believe that both the J-21 and the J-31 have been developed at least partially with designs stolen from the F-35. U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia, said the Chengdu J-20 twin-engine stealth fighter bears similarity to the F-22 Raptor while the J-31 fighter resembles the F-35 design.

Watch This Tank Carry a Beer Without Spilling a Drop

This remarkable video on YouTube demonstrates the power of good engineering in the most Germanic way possibly. In the video, a black beret-wearing member of the German Army's panzer corps pours a beer into a stein mounted on a tank's 120-millimeter gun barrel. The Leopard II main battle tank then rolls across bouncy terrain and doesn't spill a drop.

Tanks are fearsome weapons, combining firepower, protection, and mobility in a single package. One hundred years after their introduction, their ability to deliver a powerful offensive blow is still unparalleled. Yet for much of their history, tanks had to choose between shooting or moving. The slightest bump or jarring movement threw the tank's gun off target, ruining the gunner's aim. As a result, an attacking tank had to stop in order to shoot its gun—making it an easy target.

Modern tanks can now move and shoot accurately at the same time thanks to the vehicle's suspension and the two-axis stabilization of the main gun. These are the same features that allow it to keep the stein of suds so steady. The tank's torsion bar suspension buffs out the rough terrain, giving the tank a smoother ride.

The other important feature is the use of gyroscope stabilizers. Two gyros—one for gun elevation (vertical) and the other for turret rotation (horizontal)—keep track of where the gun is pointed. When the tank starts moving, the ballistic targeting computer orders the tank's hydraulics to make the necessary corrections to keep the gun on target. If the tank bounces up, the hydraulics correct downward, and so on.

In practice, this means that a tank gunner picks a target and holds it in his crosshairs—and that's all he does. The tank does the rest, automatically, without further input by the crew. This ensures that a moving tank can hit a target at 2,000 meters with ninety percent accuracy—or deliver your beer without spilling an ounce.

Tiger Forces Expand the Buffer-Zone Around the Kuweires Military Airport: Rasm Al-Abid Grain Silos Captured

user posted image

The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” and their allies from Hezbollah and the National Defense Forces (NDF) are rolling in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside after capturing the village of ‘Aqulah over the weekend.

Earlier today, the Tiger Forces and their allies launched a powerful assault on the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) defensive positions at the Rasm Al-‘Abid Grain Silos, killing over 15 enemy combatants and destroying 3 armored vehicles that were mounted with 14.5mm anti-aircraft machine guns.

Following a violent confrontation with the ISIS combatants, the Tiger Forces and their allies imposed full control over the Rasm Al-‘Abid Grain Silos, further expanding their buffer zone around the southern perimeter of the Kuweires Military Airport and the strategic Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.

As a result of their success at the Rasm Al-‘Abid Grain Silos, the Tiger Forces and their allies are now within striking distance of the strategic hilltop village of Tal Al-Ahmar; this aforementioned village is used by ISIS to launch mortar shells and rockets into the Kuweires Military Airport’s southern sector.

In a matter of 24 hours, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah have captured almost 10 square kilometers of territory to the south of the Kuweires Military Airport, as the ISIS terrorists continue their wide-scale retreat across the Deir Hafer Plains of east Aleppo.

What is the purpose of S400 then? doh.gif With the S400 in place the West will be forced to step down their bombing or even cease altogether. The risk and consequences of a shootdown is too great especially if ISIS then get their hands on a pilot.

Of course the konspirasi tards will say its proof of West supporting ISIS....

F-15C have very limited air to ground capability, so it's a hint that the US would back the Turks against Russia.

If they are serious on battling ISIS, an F-15E or AC-130 would do better job.

The F-15C is an air-superiority fighter. Please tell us exactly when ISIS gained their own air force that would require their deployment to Turkey? hmm.gif

Russia only had basic AA defense systems in place before somebody was stupid enough to shoot down a Russian plane over a 5-second intrusion of airspace. Now anything flying within 600 miles of Hmeimem air base is literally at the mercy of Russian S-400 missiles.

Malaysian navy chief seeks support ship acquisition

Ridzwan Rahmat, Kuala Lumpur - IHS Jane's Navy International
30 November 2015

Key Points

• The chief of the Malaysian navy has highlighted the procurement of multirole support ships as a priority
• The acquisition would bolster the navy's sealift and amphibious assault capabilities

The new chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) is seeking to prioritise the service's plan to acquire two multirole support ships, despite continuing funding challenges.

"With the need for us to operate in a two-theatre environment [east and west Malaysia], we hope that these two ships can be given a special priority," said Admiral Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin in an interview with IHS Jane's at the Maritime Security and Coastal Surveillance conference in Kuala Lumpur on 1 December.

Because *somebody* decided to use the Syrian war as a pretext to throw fighters around and entered Turkish airspace like its his datuk mia jalan. Russia is the number 1 world champion in disrespecting airspace all over Europe, and just like every time the NATOs and British have to send their QRA flights up on a monthly basis as a symbolic gesture to say GTFO, this is the US telling Russia not to dick with their buddy Turkey. Practically all of NATO flies out of Incirlik airbase you know.

But now the S400 is deployed the brinkmanship just got ratcheted up again. Meanwhile the main job will be undone simply because Putin wants a dick swinging contest to relive the good ol Cold War days.

At least maybe the West will get a good look at S400 radar. UK deploying another RC-135 to Turkey.

Actually now is the right time. Due to the O&G slowdown a lot of support vessels and container ships are sitting idle. Picking up a couple and converting it for military use would be excellent. Ideally a RollOnRollOff that can ferry Twardy and ACVs to ESSCOM but even a small support ship converted from a container ship can give RMN some flexibility.

Actually sgpv originally plan to have s100 uav.
They even tested it on the French gowind ship.
Later malaysia did not proceed as it might go above budget.
There are some rumors it might some sponsor for uav system.
So many twist and turn. laugh.gif

Transporting amphibious force isn't the same as transporting container.

Converting them to mrss cost money too and might even pull the mrss wishlist further away from navy.

Washington decided to send F-15Cs way before the shoot down of SU-24. So how is additional F-15Cs justifiable to fight ISIS? Has someone not just said ISIS doesn't have airforce?? How is F-15C helpful in the event of a down aircraft? How is additional F-15Cs affected by the deployment of S400, especially when the decision to send additional F-15Cs was made before he deployment of S400??
