At this moment, souring relation between Russia and the EU means that we can't get a custom-made Su-30MKM anymore. So the options are either Su-30MS or Su-35.

An ideal situation is to pursue the trade-off deal and pursue another 24 maritime-strike specialized aircraft

I have reservation towards the decision of acquiring MD530G. Not only that the helicopter doesn't have support facilities that is currently enjoyed by Eurocopter/Airbus helos, it also has lower range and minimally equipped, something that Afghani pilots complained during operation against Taliban.
Somehow, I'm interested with Airbus LAH helicopter. It could double as attack helicopter as well as troop transport and is cheaper than dedicated attack helicopters. Even the market segment is geared towards countries that need a gunship but reluctant to spend on, let say, an Apache ![]() |

Kidnap bid on divers foiled two weeks ago » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « In separate development; http://www.dailyexpress.com.my/news.cfm?NewsID=104316 Jail, cane for having sword QUOTE Kota Kinabalu: A Filipino labourer, who brought a sword from Sandakan for self-defence, was on Tuesday sentenced to eight months' jail plus two lashes of the cane. Magistrate Mohd Faiz Omar, in meting out the sentence to Badboy Lajib, told him that the court was not convinced with his unreasonable excuse for having the weapon in public. Badboy had earlier admitted to having the 63cm-long sword at 4.25am on Oct 30 at the bus terminal in Inanam, here. Inspector Jakariya Jupakkal, prosecuting, told the court that Badboy was arrested for behaving suspiciously and that the weapon was found in his bag. Pleading for leniency, Badboy said he came from Sandakan and that he brought the sword for self-defence and not to kill someone or to steal. The court ordered Badboy to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving the sentence. In another case, three locals were fined RM1,800 or four months' jail each for taking drugs. Jenifer Joyce Jasri, Richard Faris and Imannuel Somin confessed to committing the offence at separate locations here between Aug 28 and Sept 29. |

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Nov 28 2015, 10:35 PM) It's all good and all for the PAF, but the FA-50 is simply a light multirole aircraft like the BAe Hawk 200 RMAF has. It's certainly not a world-beater. Certainly no match for the latest generation PLA fighters like J-10 and J-11. Can Hawk go supersonic? Can Hawk launch BVR missiles? How about dedicated anti ship missile? As far as I know Hawk can't even launch AIM-9M (they use older AIM-9P afaik). Those F/A-50s have capability closer to JAS-39D(despite reduced range and payload) after LockMart have agreed to remove the performance cap on F/A-50 and Raytheon steps in. In unrelated news, we should grab those second-hand M109s. If nothing else, we could use them to develop our own SPH doctrine. |

F-15C have very limited air to ground capability, so it's a hint that the US would back the Turks against Russia.
If they are serious on battling ISIS, an F-15E or AC-130 would do better job. This post has been edited by cunnilinguist: Dec 2 2015, 03:28 AM |

QUOTE(KLboy92 @ Dec 2 2015, 10:35 AM) Actually now is the right time. Due to the O&G slowdown a lot of support vessels and container ships are sitting idle. Picking up a couple and converting it for military use would be excellent. Ideally a RollOnRollOff that can ferry Twardy and ACVs to ESSCOM but even a small support ship converted from a container ship can give RMN some flexibility. Transporting amphibious force isn't the same as transporting container. |

QUOTE(Dreadstar @ Dec 2 2015, 06:24 PM) They're shipped to Malaysia as CKD, so even if the production line halted, they can still produce the parts.Besides, the Ukranian can still honour the MBT deal with thailand even when they're at war with Russia |

It's different. The gurkhas, while from nepal, are trained by the british, and considered as part of british military. The same goes with France and the FFL.
This is just blatant use of mercenary. |

How is Eurofighter a shitstorm?
The problem is mainly due to budget cuts and problem to secure export beyond the participant countries back then (Korea, Japan, Singapore, India, etc). It's a fully functional aircraft since early 2000s |
