I think golf sets are included. Same equipments included such as racquets (badminton, squash), all types of balls brows.gif (golf, badminton, squash, ping pong, basketball, guli/marbles?)

Specifically not included are sports-clothings and sports shoes. So, golf shoes can or not ?

Yes.....
LHDN idea of sports tax relief if you can claim tax relief up to RM300/year if the equipment you buy if the needed to make the sport complete.

Eg...
Without badminton racquet or shuttlecocks, you can't play badminton, right ? So you can claim them.
Without shoes or clothes, you can still play badminton if you have the racquet and shuttlecock, right ? So you can't claim them.

Hi,

If you are a swimmer, then you cannot claim on your swimming costume.....following your reasoning, I guess that you are right....Even if I am naked, I can still swim.....but can I do it legally brows.gif

The government is promoting naked swimming.

Sometimes the one who drafted the laws lived under the well happily ever after.
This is why for so many donkey years Inland Revenue Board has never been pro-business.

Swimming goggles can claim according one LHDN officer because it's not part of attire. But an equipment, right ?

actually that sports equipment claim is quite subjective.

anyway, i don't think IRB won't really emphasize on what you claim over there since it's only RM300 with a maximum 28%, as long as it is related to sports then no big deal!

The reason why IRB doesn't allow shoes and clothes to be included is that they want to prevent people misusing it.

As the main purpose is to give incentive for buying sport equipment for doing sport. But if shoes and shirts are allowed, definitely everyone will claim it as we or most people will buy shoes and clothing every year which is not for purposes of sport.

Got a question with regards to the sports equipment. How about a gym subscription? I mean, I'm not buying the equipment but I'm paying for its use. How does this work?
