Hey there. I am currently planning on opening a ASX account and I'm not sure which to choose.

And what are the risk that I have to bear if I choose the Variable price products?

I am non-bumi, 19 years old. I want long term investment in the time span of 8-10 years (before 30 years old).

Thanks!

in this case, it's ASX choose you, so to say.

lol. let me explain. i would recommend to buy fixed priced asx products which for your case asw2020/asm/as1m. the benefit priced being fixed at rm 1 per unit with consistent dividend and no sales charges. there are some concerns regarding FP which is already posted in the 1st page of the thread. do check it out.

since officially, the FP products for non bumi is full, you can't simply open whichever you want. it depends on whether there are available units and whether the officers willing to open for you. therefore, the statement asx chooses you instead. lol.

okay your best bet is AS 1Malaysia icon_rolleyes.gif

among all the 3 fixed price funds, that's the most easy to get

But I observe a lot of you ask me to go for FP rather than VP. Why not VP? Since I am investing in the long term (8-10 years)

If u willing to take risk , is ok for that

Cause you can get the better returns via UT bought from FSM. Refer to fsm thread for funds to buy.

Cause FP will give you consistent returns'at 6.x% p.a. Your returns will not suddenly drop to 2% (worse than FD)

Cause VP have 5% SC + 6% GST while FP have no SC. You put in rm10k, you get 10k of units.

for newbie, better to go for FP fund 1st. then later after stabilized / understand on how UT works & can take bigger risk / losses, then u can go after VP funds over FSM. can invest overseas funds also flex.gif

I'm targeting Amanah Saham 1Malaysia for now. And my question is, should I put all my money into AS 1Malaysia?

I wud advise u split evenly into ASW, ASM n AS1M
If ASW n ASM is not available, they goes 100% into AS1M

Actually I don't see what's wrong with that. ASX FP are fully liquid. You can withdraw anytime. If some people can treat it as a high interest SA, I don't see why we cannot do the same. whistling.gif

So you mean keep emergency fund as cash in SA? Cause some people recommend keeping emergency fund in FD. If like that, same thing also. Need to go to bank and withdraw , wasting time and petrol
