From RHB Secure Mail for Great Eastern payment via eConnect:

"With regard to your concern, kindly be informed that the Merchant Category Code (MCC) for Great Eastern is 6300 under Insurance category. We wish to inform that the transaction fall under Online Spend."

Note that this is a MANUAL payment on eConnect. If you "save" your card details for auto-billing, it most likely will not be considered as online transaction.

Anyone know what is the MCC for online grocery shopping platforms, such as Happyfresh, Lotuss Online and Aeon Online?

Also, what is the MCC for Watsons Online and Guardian Online?

unlikely to be grocery.

likely more of specialty stores (5999) or household appliance stores (5722)

just try a small amount and check with the bank to be sure. who knows, it could be having departmental stores too (5311)

Where did you get the MCC?
I got it Government MCC a few days ago.

The description had been changed for a few months already, now engaged GHL instead of directly served by bank.

Well, I just got the answer from RHB CS for my transaction on 27 October 2022. Hmm, why conflicting data ya.

If 6540, bad news for you (27/10), good news but also bad news for me.

P/S: from my HLB Wise October transactions, if it is 6540, I should have earned RM1 CB (Others), but I didn't get any CB so it was still Government MCC (transaction on 28/10)

Anyone knows if these two spending-taobao and fave falls under online category? My concern is the description having lazada wallet there. Although I paid directly through credit card but somehow it got linked to lazada wallet.

Yes the payment to Taobao China is now handled by Alipay Malaysia (ie Lazada Wallet).
Alipay Malaysia Sdn Bhd is an e-money issuer (mainly E-wallet) permitted by Bank Negara.
