inside each individual outlet, add the respective MCC if info available.

reason is Maybank has no easy way to extract the MCC upon calling in. Most staffs wouldnt know how. sometimes put us on hold for some time, or they call back.


for HLB Wise, their system can immediately tell you the MCC associated to the particular transaction.

not many, if not all, grocery stores doesnt allow bill payment, especially using credit cards.

one exception so far is Sam's Groceria, that we were made aware recently that accept bill payment using credit cards, and Sam's is under MCC 5411, Grocery category.

the transaction relationship is like this (simplified, general idea):

1) Grocery store links to a specific payment gateway service, e.g. popular one is ePay
2) Grocery store initiate payment to ePay.
3) ePay pays to bill payees (e.g. TM or TNB or etc).
4) Grocery store charge you for the payment.
5) You pay the Grocery store as usual, using credit cards.
6) Credit card banks recognizes the Grocery store under MCC 5411 category (if MCC is properly & correctly registered )


what grocery stores in your mind? share share the location(s), so that other adventurous forumers can try


p/s: Even Petronas service stations allow bill payment cuz they are using ePay too. Other could try swiping their cards to pay bills, possibly under Petrol category with MCC 5541.
