if you're gonna travel far like balik kampung with family and all in the future with this car, i'd recommend 1.6. if short distance drive around city and for one person, 1.3 will be just nice.

in my case, i travel to kajang and sri petaling daily in a 1.6 car. Average fuel consumption is about 8.5l/100km

Thanks for this info......

Yes you can upgrade the engine. Problem is it will void ur warranty but not your fun.
*
for now lets ignore warranty.. so we can just bolt on turbo on iriz or we need to change iriz engine? is it better to change engine or just upgrade the engine part by part?

Agreed.

It's acceptable for a 1.3 car..The only disadvantage is the clutch-based system. Imagine driving manual, stepping on the accelerator while slowly releasing the clutch. The rev will go up but the actual power comes a little bit later. It's less prevalent as the car gets warmed up over time.

Once it gets going, it's definitely not underpowered if you step on it.
*
agreed, ive own manual cars in the past and during iriz test drive I was surprised why manual was feeling underpowered (hi-rev but not picking up speed fast as expected, even my.old saga pickup way faster than iriz - saga lighter kua) u ngeh2 step on the accelarator oso feel slow.. so if ur going for manual, dun expect the pickup to be fast, in fact its pickup almost feel same like its CVT sibling) in the end, I went with CVT as my choice

Not sure as I'm not an engine expert. Best to consult "reputable" performance shops. However since Proton is already working on a Turbo variant of the Iriz, probably the engine should be compliant.

Better check the transmission unit too. I believe the cvt used in iriz is at near maximum torque level that it can accept from the engine. You may need to change that too. Don't know about MT. Better ask the experts.

if only add in turbo i don't think we need to change the transmission as for MT but CVT i don't think it can accept extra torque. Ok if i manage to find "reputable" performance shops i will ask regarding Turbo and the Transmission.

Thx again guys for your answer.. (sorry bad english)

You can try PJS 11 area near Sunway University. There's a lot of performance shops there that people normally send their cars for tuning and performance upgrades. VW, GTR, Accura NSX, Benz, Hondas all available there.
