Hello guys,

Well cut to the chase, what is the main reason you guys choose Iriz over Myvi or any other cars that fall under the budget ?
*
Lack confidence when speeding in Myvi. Lack confidence = cant speed + if speed then will feel uneasy.
Other than that for that few hundred extra im spending getting an Iriz, I am getting way more in terms of safety, excitement and more. Also based on my experience, sitting in Myvi at the back from Subang to Klang caused me to have a back ache while from KL to Camerons parents sitting at the back didnt complain.

Due to personal feelings, I dislike how Perodua does their business. Take an existing car, sell it for cheap I'm ok with that but after so many years they only keep doing facelift and not improving the safety of the car is a big no-no. After Iriz came out, I waited for Perodua's response and it was here's a facelift and new gearbox.

Also I intend to buy and keep the car for at least 10 years therefore I need to choose something I would not regret. So far my only semi-regret is not getting 1.6MT but since I just started working at that time so I don't have much money.

Just came back from the talk with Proton CTO. I have informed them of those 5 issues. As for issues like the key, they will investigate it. Reverse sensor they said that they recently got it fixed so u will need to change ur sensors. Iirc, they said they fixed it on June this year. Other issues brought up during the talk by others which I consider major is they complained that after ECU/TCU update which fixed the jerks during start/stop has caused a max speed limit of 160km/h.

I recorded the intro session and the Q&A session and I will need time to process it. What I can conclude is that despite initial things said by Proton where they are using a lot of Japanese tech for the car, during the talk, they said that most of the tech is German tech and standards(not saying that because its German tech means Proton = BMW/AUDI/VW etc) with slides that shows the company that provides the parts and he explained European car standards.

Syabas Proton.

May I know what did they say regarding dashboard rattle?
*
QUOTE(BlacBeanz @ Sep 12 2015, 09:04 PM)
yup... *anticipating*  as well...
*
During tightening process, the dashboard will go to its natural shape. When the dash is first installed, its not yet in its natural shape yet so once it forms its natural shape then it needs to be tightened again. He gave an example like when they manufacture a shirt it needs to be ironed first before it forms its shape(im assuming that he means forms the crease for the hands and shoulder area as well as the sides). He also said something about the plastic going thru the stress release process.

A bit bad la, but not noticeable till you actually stand right in front of it. I think those scratch removers won't work on mine, cause mine scratched till paint come off ady, but at least it's the skirting part, can buy a whole new skirting, same colour also, to fit back rather than waste time to repaint the whole thing, sometimes paint oso diff colour.  biggrin.gif
*
If wanna save money the RM5X Ezy Touch Up paint does the job with the correct colour. I'm using it at the moment and it works as advertised. The colour is also correct.

Jusco. Search the automotive section. Its normally on those cardboard shelves. I know the one I bought at even had a small screen to show how to use it. Yes they have that colour and I have bought it before to repair some paint scratches.

Dear yadea, may i know what is wrong with the key? I have to know before i proceed with the FMEA.
*
I failed to follow up on that. What happen was they acquired someones someone's key to check and asked that person to go to his office after the event to get back his key. I should ask the president of PICM on what can proton do. After the talk, outside, one of the proton staff asked me what problems I have with my car and he took my key and have a look and said they need to check. He took out his car key(of another car) and said maybe cuz his key fab is thicker(which I dont think its the case).

*
U can try but since im not a proton representative or even from proton then I dont know whats the outcome. I am just conveying what the CTO said.

hey guys im thinking of getting this car... any reason why i shouldnt?

hows the FC? thinking of getting the 1.3 model
*
Reasons not to get the Iriz:
1. You want a car with a butt(sedan cars).
2. You want FC like an eco car.
3. You don't trust locally made cars/Proton.
4. You can't drive manual and dislike CVT.
5. Car is often gonna be used to bring a family of about 5(late teens or adults) or more(I just think that for these cases best get a bigger car, not saying that the car cannot muat).
6. 107 hp is not enough.
7. Car does not go sideways easily.
8. Not race car.
9. You prefer cars without power steering.
10. Lack bragging power over car value with other peers/lack bragging over owning continental car.

FC wise, best: 16km/l. Worst: 9.6km/l

actually yes, proton try to follow Europe standard when design their car, so come out all those DRL, ESC....
*
Yeap. However I recall initially when proton launched the car, they kept saying things like the car was made mainly based on Japanese technology and such and they said theres no "Lotus Tuning" badge because it was japanese tuned.

Anyway just to share some of the slides that I took pictures of, see attachments.

As for the video featuring the whole introduction part:

*Edit: not sure how to attach youtube video, the player keep saying theres an error

Anybody here change the stock tyre to a better one? the 1.6 version. care to share the brand, price and experience maybe
*
Some people told me that when change tyres then the ESC(i think this is the one) light will stay on. During the proton talk I recall the guy saying something about the sensors are calibrated to the precise tyre size. When changing then the thing needs to be reset or something. This might be in the video I just posted.

Means proton SC asked you and another person to change the key fob's casing? why? issit easily broken? if broken is the case, then i know what actually happen.
*
It wasn't proton SC. It was proton technical team. They wanted to investigate why that happens to the key. What I failed to do is to follow up on my question of how is proton gonna resolve that other than investigating the cause of that. Hope we get free improved replacements.

I too want to change tyre, can the service center do adjustment on the sensors? Anybody have experience on this?
*
Not sure about that. U need to check with those whose already changed tyres.

for now lets ignore warranty.. so we can just bolt on turbo on iriz or we need to change iriz engine? is it better to change engine or just upgrade the engine part by part?
*
Not sure as I'm not an engine expert. Best to consult "reputable" performance shops. However since Proton is already working on a Turbo variant of the Iriz, probably the engine should be compliant.

ok, thx for your answer. been trying to find any iriz engine discussion sadly there is non. is there any "reputable" performance shops that you recommend? prefer in Selangor area.
if only add in turbo i don't think we need to change the transmission as for MT but CVT i don't think it can accept extra torque. Ok if i manage to find "reputable" performance shops i will ask regarding Turbo and the Transmission.

Thx again guys for your answer.. (sorry bad english)
*
You can try PJS 11 area near Sunway University. There's a lot of performance shops there that people normally send their cars for tuning and performance upgrades. VW, GTR, Accura NSX, Benz, Hondas all available there.

To those whom were thinking of upgrading their car by adding turbo and is using CVT, heres what I suddenly recalled this morning. During the Q&A session for the talk with Proton CTO, someone did ask for CVT3 for Iriz but they said that CVT 3 is meant for forced induction cars like preve and suprima. Since from my knowledge, Iriz is using CVT 2 therefore you would have a high probability of having to change your gearbox when you upgrade.
