1.3 cvt is not under power, imo. I have one, bought for my wife. For my eldest child, will be getting a manual for him, standard is enough.
*
Thanks for the info.....I need to get auto version for my daughter but for me, manual will be fun to drive

Agreed.

It's acceptable for a 1.3 car..The only disadvantage is the clutch-based system. Imagine driving manual, stepping on the accelerator while slowly releasing the clutch. The rev will go up but the actual power comes a little bit later. It's less prevalent as the car gets warmed up over time.

Once it gets going, it's definitely not underpowered if you step on it.
*
Thanks for this info......I think I understand about this delay issue, just like saga blm cannot straight heavy acceleration.......

Hey bro. Check the Owner's List on 1st page. I think it's amost 50-50 or 40-60 for 1.3 vs 1.6.

and no, I can tell you even if Iriz is a pretty heavy car at 1.1k+ kg, it is not under powered.
Although the CVT gearbox makes the Iriz looks as if it is under powered even for the 1.6 engine.
Once you get the hang of driving a CVT gearbox and know how to control the car, then you will know.

Go for a test drive! That's the best hands on experience to see whether you are satisfied with it or not.  thumbup.gif

Thanks for this info.......Proton cvt delay respond just like saga blm second batch cvt auto, good side is better fuel consumption then my 4speed saga blm auto

if you're gonna travel far like balik kampung with family and all in the future with this car, i'd recommend 1.6. if short distance drive around city and for one person, 1.3 will be just nice.

in my case, i travel to kajang and sri petaling daily in a 1.6 car. Average fuel consumption is about 8.5l/100km

one guy from iriz fb fan club page changed his tyres to Michelin PS3, said to have better grip in wet/dry, and less noise.  Could go for that. They can take stock tyres
I'm saving up moneh to get 16"s with those tyres, right after getting my roof racks for surfboard carrying...
*
Thanks for this info.......think will used back original 14" rims and changed to better tires.

nope. locking/unlocking no sound. But the alarm does work. and it's bleeping loud, contrary to the car horn which is damn mild =.= Speaking of other mild things, the reverse sensor is very mild too.(worse than mild actually. With radio on @ volume 5+ cant even hear the reverse sensor clearly)

EDIT: Btw how much the new tyres cost you before/after trade-in?
*
true......reverse sensor sound too soft even if i on the radio, i can't really hear the beeping sound.......later see can changed the buzzer..........any advice

got my tires from my friend's shop, he gave me a very good offer.......to my opinion.......he took my original tires (less then 70km used) for rm.90 each

radio reception no so good and the antenna looks weird......later look for shorter type..........any opinion which type

boot don't have light and plastic cover at the opening.......if we take or put things into the boot, i think will scratch the paint work

horn sound soft........some of my opinion on this car

No beeping sound. Gotta listen to the guns make the lock sound. If unsure just press lock button again. If it enters car finder then you know its lock.
1.3 Exec onwards have boot light at the left. Alternative is you can go to Sh@rty 5's shop to install boot light.

thanks for the info......

I understand that Proton is doing their best and integrating all these new cool toys to our more budget friendly line of vehicles, but, do these things happen to the owners of the Preve and Suprima too? I guess they also had some issues here and there, no?

Does anybody know about experiences from friends or family with other Protons? I have only had Perodua so far in Malaysia and this is my first Proton. I have not had "real" or permanent issues with mine, other than the ones I've mentioned before, but they were basically a one time thing.

so far not much problem with iriz.......and this is my 5th proton cars that i own (currently saga blm auto, iswara sedan manual and iriz cvt......proton have really improved)
