hi, newbie here.. may keep fish in the future.. before that, i want to ask some Qs..
what's the cost of keeping guppy per month? do they need planted grass or big aquarium? can i keep in the fish bowl? what do i need to feed them with? how often should i change the water?

many thanks in advance!

erm, i dunno how to estimate the cost but it's really cheap la. you can choose an aquarium or fish bowl, any will work. it would be better if you put some greens in it, they like to eat algae so it'll be good if you got an area where algae can grow easily. other than that, you can feed the fish flakes which you can get at pet shops. water change, erm.. once or twice a week?

it should cost u much because guppies by nature are hardy fishes.. they do not require plants in the tank and the size of the aquarium will depend on the number of guppies.. 3 or 4 guppies in a fish bowl should be fine.. feeding them common fish food will do as they are not picky eaters.. a tank with filtration(fully cycled) should go about changing water once in 1-2 weeks.. but since u're using a fish bowl i dont think there will be any filtration so in order to keep them healthy, say, 3 - 5 days 100% water change.. u will need to condition the water as well because chlorine in tap water is harmful to fishes.. the price for anti chlorine ranges to +- RM 2 to RM10++.. I am personally using cheap ones and didnt have any problems.. but I use aged water(water left overnight to neutralize chlorine) and anti chlorine to be on the safe side..

You need to or else your adult fishes will eat all the fries.

Okay, If i transfer them to a guppy plastic tank (common tanks seen in fish shops), and just put a pump will be okay?
Or do i need to put them with a filter?

Depend on you, Guppy can live even without any pump or filter, just that you need to change your water frequently.

Remember to put some plants inside or something that can let your fries to hide as you can't predict the time your female guppy breed.

And, remove the guppy gently to avoid your guppy being shock until hard to breed.

Hi Guppy Lovers,

I have a lot of guppies. They are all beautiful and coexist peacefully and happily together.
I also have 4 very red swordfishes. I keep them in a huge ceramic pot with lots of water plants.

I don't have a very good camera and I can't take them from the view of an aquarium.

However, I hope you'd be able to enjoy and see some of the colours of the guppies in this picture.

What grass you put in there? Is it difficult to keep the plant alive? I am looking to add some green in my guppy tank too.

Ya ya ya..had many babies until nearly exploded so I separated male all in one tank and all female in another.
Then the male became like want to die..no semangat to live..haih..now all back together..happy again. weird.
Good thing the ceramic pot is big one.

The water plant is those normal ones from aquarium shop..cheap ones like RM1.20 for one small bunch I think. You look at
my picture then when you see the same ones in the shop, those are the ones..Other types look different. This type is very
easy to keep. I have so much that I have to weed every few months. They just grow and grow. I keep my pot in the balcony
so can get some sun and I have some soil that I originally bought for my lotus plant that I put inside. That helps I think although
I didn't plant the water plant to the soil. I just left it floating also can survive.
