Hi guppy keepers, anyone knows what type of guppy is this? saw this guppy today and bought it thinking that it's rather unique as i have never seen guppy in this colour before.. its body is goldish yellow and red finishing at the end of its tail

my guppies all Died and the gourami was sick but survived.. other fishes not affected and i changed the water everyday for 4 days to eliminate all the contaminated water

Added on August 11, 2008, 7:29 pmnow i use a bit of aquarium salt to help fishes produce a coat of slime that could protect them from some infection smile.gif guppies can handle some dosage of aquarium salt

QUOTE(jayniel @ Aug 16 2008, 10:57 PM)
hi, newbie here.. may keep fish in the future.. before that, i want to ask some Qs..
what's the cost of keeping guppy per month? do they need planted grass or big aquarium? can i keep in the fish bowl? what do i need to feed them with? how often should i change the water?

many thanks in advance!

it should cost u much because guppies by nature are hardy fishes.. they do not require plants in the tank and the size of the aquarium will depend on the number of guppies.. 3 or 4 guppies in a fish bowl should be fine.. feeding them common fish food will do as they are not picky eaters.. a tank with filtration(fully cycled) should go about changing water once in 1-2 weeks.. but since u're using a fish bowl i dont think there will be any filtration so in order to keep them healthy, say, 3 - 5 days 100% water change.. u will need to condition the water as well because chlorine in tap water is harmful to fishes.. the price for anti chlorine ranges to +- RM 2 to RM10++.. I am personally using cheap ones and didnt have any problems.. but I use aged water(water left overnight to neutralize chlorine) and anti chlorine to be on the safe side..
