There are complains on this model. The temperature runs a bit too hot, the dedicated number pad is smaller, and the battery life is very very short. This laptop is only good for gamer and not for work imho.  icon_idea.gif

Hi sifus,

1. Brand: Any except Acer
2. Budget: 5 - 11k
3. Usage: Programming, internet marketing, office at home. Will plug in 2 external monitors and use all 3 screens at the same time (example common usage: 1 open email/Twitter/social medias, 1 open 40 Chrome tabs, 1 open multiple microsoft Word/Excel/IDE/chrome, etc). Won't be using for gaming, graphic design, or engineering software, but love to multitask as shown in my above example.
4. Preferred screen size - 15 inch (13-14 also acceptable)
Preferred specs: core i7, 16 GB RAM, SSD, great build quality. Not concern about portability (rarely bring outside) but prefer less bulky (less than 3 kg) if possible.

I've hard time finding a laptop I want. Only can find Macbook Pro and Gaming laptop with the specs I want. Dell XPS 15 has hybrid drive not SSD. I found a few Thinkpads that suit me but seems like not selling in Msia. Maybe there's 8GB RAM laptop but with 2 RAM slots for upgrade? Or maybe I should swap HDD to SSD? Need some advice.

Thanks!

If you're not bringing it outside and also since laptop with your preferred spec is overkill and your not gaming would be waste of money while building the rig would be better as more customization and not wasting funds.

For multitasking is to have a lot of RAM which laptops has a drawback which is maximum of 16gb but higher end can have up to 32gb but cost a bomb and you wont be using the hardware as it is intended.

I suggest building a desktop rig then with the remaining budget to get a simple laptop should you need portability. Link for the desktop rig build if you change your mind : https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3574076

With your current budget, do consider a desktop. But if you still insist on buying a laptop. You may consider this.
Dell Precision M4800-I78116G50G2G-W87 Mobile Workstation 15.6" Laptop/ Notebook (i7-4810MQ, 500GB, 16GB, NV K1100M, W8.1P/W7P)
You can upgrade the HDD to SSD with 11k budget. thumbup.gif

No, not low spec because with your prefered spec it has to have a high end spec.

Most of it would be mobile workstation because you intend to use 2 eternal monitors and only mobile workstations has that much input for monitors.

Check out Dell, HP workstation because it has good warranty services and with the amount of money you use. It is best to have a good after sale service.

Since you multitask alot, get the maximum allowed RAM and make it 64 bit OS as they can use more than 4gb of RAM.
