With your current budget, do consider a desktop. But if you still insist on buying a laptop. You may consider this.
Dell Precision M4800-I78116G50G2G-W87 Mobile Workstation 15.6" Laptop/ Notebook (i7-4810MQ, 500GB, 16GB, NV K1100M, W8.1P/W7P)
You can upgrade the HDD to SSD with 11k budget. thumbup.gif

been tried 4800, too heavy to carry around.

i would suggest m3800 instead, just around 1k more than 4800(same spec)

** rmb add on NBD warranty to hassle free
HP need carry in although theirs workstation look great **

Hi, planning to change a new laptop since my previous one died on me sad.gif

Anyways here are my requirements.

1. Budget friendly 1.5k and below
2. For everyday use (movies, youtube, documents)
3. casual gaming (dota 2, etc.)
4. engineering softwares (HYSYS, AutoCAD)

I'm just a normal guy with day to day usage only. Only thing Im heavy on are movies.

Appreciate it if anyone could suggest me some affordable ones.

Been looking through:

ASUS X550DP ; Lenovo G40-45 ; HP 15-G201AX

Or are there better choices for me out there?

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you !

This model can work well. But you need a RAM upgrade to 8gb as the recommended ram for AutoCAD is 8gb. biggrin.gif

Evening guys,

Need your suggestion or opinion:

1. Preferred Brand : Dell
2. Budget : RM1.6k below
3. Usage : mostly work, browsing and no gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14

Was looking at :
1) Dell Inspiron 14 3451 (Pentium N3540)
2) Dell Inspiron 14 3000 (Pentium N3700)

Between the 2 which is a better processor ...

Thanks for your help.

N3540 has higher turbo clock speed and better overclocked clock speed.
N3700 is a newer processor that can support 3 displays (N3540 can only support 2). N3700 consumes less power.

If you do not work at home and want a longer battery life for your laptop, go for the N3700. If you don't move your laptop around one, go for N3540. biggrin.gif
