jsflim , may I ask your Golf's VIN no? Because AFAIK even the early batches of the mk7s were involved in the mecha campaign.
*
What is VIN no? I bought it on 2013 Nov. Not sure is affected unit.

Anyway I just back from service center, confirmed is mechatronic issue and they going to change it for me. Seems like I'm really the unlucky one to get affected for Golf Mk7.

just send in today, SA estimated complete by tomorrow. no courtesy car since is short replacement.

SA did mention if there is no stock for Mechatronic they might need to order from German or Singapore. He said it's not common for Mk7 to have this issue so they didn't keep stock.

Lets pray everything go smooth and it wont happen again. I believe I'm the first person we get this problem for Mk7 Golf.

VIN is your chasis number. You can look at the passenger side, on your windscreen outside, there should be a small slot with your vin near the wiper. Should be WVWZZZAUZxWxxxxxx.

I guess for privacy etc you should keep it secret, I just need to know the bolded part, either its D or E.

Sometimes dealer swap/get parts from other dealers so.. but I doubt any dealer would want to let go of their mecha stock, hah. I've heard of mk7s with DSG breakdown, but I personally didn't know any. All of my contacts went for the mecha campaign and seems fine, so far.

VW opens new Shah Alam parts hub in July last year,
so should be no problem.

Don't hold it on me, but iirc, all D cars (2013 year of make) mk7s had to go for the mecha campaign and something else that I absolutely forgot what. E, or 2014, which is later batches, doesn't have to.

Thus even if the owner went for the campaign, the damage is already done on the mecha, depending on the unit's age and mileage and would most probably fail sooner or later. I do know that even 2014 and later batches does have an update for the DSG - 37J4, which is W-Reprogamming gearbox control unit.

I still require a new set of clutches, though bangwall.gif And I have absolutely no idea as well, whether '14+ units had suffered from any mecha breakdowns so far.

I went through the gear oil changing process (Mineral oil). which I believe it belongs to the D cars.

Not sure if they changing for a new mecha for me (which used in E car). but how can I know which gear they changing for me?

I think you can get mk5 gti around 70k if im not wrong. I would advise you to stay away from 1.4TSI like other forumer said. The 2.0TSI + 6DSG is much more reliable  smile.gif
*
Ic.. Seems like the 1.4 tsi is kinda fragile..
Thanks for ur reply btw bro smile.gif

Golfs (and apparently a whole bunch of 1.4 TSIs) from 2010-11 are pretty notorious for their motor blowing up (okay I'm exaggerating) and transmission replacements due to the DSG issues at that time. Most units at 2nd hand dealers just .. sit there and get their warranties void from negligence of service intervals. Iirc 1.4 with CAVE codes are the infamous ones..

If possible I'd reccomend getting a 2015 Jetta with the current promo. If you count the interest rate for used - new car I think it'll be pretty much the same or close, anyway.

A dealer offered me 60k for a '09 mk5 GTI. Friend's price so I can't disclose where though, heh.
*
Wow thanks for your detailed explaination bro! This is what i need, haha thumbup.gif

So 2010-2011 units are most probably gt smth wrong with the engine and transmission? Is CAVE the engine code?
How about 2012 units? Are they having the same problem too?

2015 Jetta is abit over budget for me, although I'm also considering it.. Anyway just asking, I thought they are using the same engine and transmission as the Mk6 Golfs?

Wowww 60k for a 09' GTi?! If i get such offer i might sapu it LOL. What i see from the classified ads 09' mk5 GTis are selling around 70k++, some even asking for 78k man..

Sorry to hear that. Makes me worried as well. My car was bought in Sept 2013 and i did the recall around Dec 2013. So far my car has been running well without any issues but i always drive it in manual mode during traffic jams.

Hi, after first week with my passat 1.8tsi
everything is good beside of central lock system
after i selected auto locking function, i can heard that the car lock been triggered continuously while car stop-and-go.
Mean after i drive to certain speed, the auto lock triggered and all doors locks. and vehicle stop and move again later on, u can hear and feel the car door been locked again and again.
Is it normal to VW car?

all 4 doors? never experienced this ... get it checked it out man

when it goes above 25 or 30km/h it will lock itself

and then when u stop and remove key - it will unlock all doors

Yea that doesn't sound right. I'd get it sorted out asap. Don't want odd people at traffic lights to jump into your car aye.

And mine just popped up the odd 'Reverse Not Available'. Disappeared when I turned the car off-on, but man. I wonder if it'll make the appointment end of this month.
