I don't own a passat or Jetta but what i have been told by the salesman based on 2 test drives from different showroom both advise,

1. Whenever the car stop like waiting for traffic light to turn green put your gear "N"
2. Service interval is either 12 months or 15K mileages whichever come first but do your service early like 12~13K mileages or 12 months, don't drag or 12 months or more than 13K.
3. For Clutch Fluid, try to flash on every change and also don't delay.

Maybe some of the owner here could confirm.
*
3. Wil Service centre help us flash it everytime or we need request ourselves.

Thank you for advice.

Hi all,

I have just received my new VW Passat (Icelandic grey) last Saturday  rclxm9.gif

Can anyone advice me on the following:-

1. Which is the best/ recommended service center for VW?

2. What is the engine oil used for VW Passat and the recommended interval to change? I heard we need to change before the 15km/ 1 year service interval.

3. How do I join the FB group?

Sorry if my questions are boring or repetitive but I am a VW newbie here  rclxms.gif

i also received my passat last week, friday
same colour with urs ,bro

BTW, the DSG engine is really cool in gear shift, fast and steady
but i also feel that the interval of each gear switching is too short
almost gear up every 10km/hrs increased
frankly i feel "stress" while car in front slowing down or depressed the brake
coz the car need decreased its gear ,mayb from ger 6 to gear 2 or 1 within 10 seconds
and picking up again within next 5-10seconds @@
is it too high tension to DSG gear box?

How's your guys avoid this?

Is it advisable that we use paddle shift to gear down while we saw some cars r slowing down in front?

Coasting function ? Does passat own this?
i saw this function in owner manual book but i cant find it in setting.

thats how DSG works, as you drive - it will monitor your incline or decline, the acceleration when you are driving at 1, its already got gear 2 engaged ready to move up, as the DSG always have 2 gears engaged, then when you go 3 its anticipating you to keep on accelerating and to move up to 3

its when in a start stop traffic, jam which causes the issue, the moment u brake - it will be confused as its expecting to shift up, but u brake, and it has go back downshifting

hence when you are in traffic jam, stick to S mode or manual

and when i wanna start from standstill - or when i am in parking area - i use S mode so it does up shift that much and then when i brake downshift again

when you drive normally in D, the shift from 1 to 2 is almost like non existence rite .. hahaha thats how smooth is it

and yeah the gears as per speed are

1-10km/h
2-20km/h
3-30km/h
4-40km/h
5-50km/h
6-60km/h
7-70km/h

if your minimum speed is not achiveved, it will not shift up

Noted bro
Thank you for ur advice.

S mode, valuable tip to me.
i still practice on manual mode, quite fresh to me.

Hi, after first week with my passat 1.8tsi
everything is good beside of central lock system
after i selected auto locking function, i can heard that the car lock been triggered continuously while car stop-and-go.
Mean after i drive to certain speed, the auto lock triggered and all doors locks. and vehicle stop and move again later on, u can hear and feel the car door been locked again and again.
Is it normal to VW car?

when it goes above 25 or 30km/h it will lock itself

and then when u stop and remove key - it will unlock all doors

the sound come from left side passanger seats, volume not really big, but u can hear the small noise
ok, i think have to report it to SC
but the first service is 15000km
would ur guys advice me send my car to check 1st or waiting for 1st time service ?

p/s: i dint turn on the auto locking function now in order to avoid the noise

Hey guys, had u guys always monitor for the oil temperature?
Since DSG issue due to the high temperature of gearbox, does it link to oil temperature as well ?

Normally what is ur oil temperature?

For mine, 97-100, sometime it reach 101.
