Pretty sure a facelift Jetta is incoming soon. I've heard about they're going to release the Polo Sedan as Vento in 3 different variants, but nothing about the 1.6 H/Back. Passat - well, everyone knows about the B8.
And the Polo 1.6 H/Back as well as Sedan has a pretty high maintenance bill, due having to replace the spark plugs every 2nd service, compared to the TSI models. |

Well technically the 7 speed requires no maintenance compared to say, the 6 speed auto in Polo which would require ATF change. But maybe for the sake of a robust, less-headache transmission? The 6 spd auto is pretty nice in town drive.

Can't really answer #1, but where did you pick up your Passat from? I'd pick a service center, and get to know its Service Advisor. Makes things handy in the future.
Well for #2 and #3.. The engine oil used by service centres would be Castrol Edge Professional. The interval of 15,000km or 365 days is correct, your Sales Consultant should've clarified this. You can go an extra 1,500km or 1 month in case you can't make the interval, but I've heard this differs from one service center to the other, although this is mentioned by VGM themselves. One good thing about the Passat is their major service is at 90,000km opposed to like, 60,000 on most VWs. |

Well if you don't mind, just lookup in Mudah and purchase the armrest for Polo 1.2. It'll take some effort to install, probably requiring dealer help, but it'll look and feel OEM. I'd also recommend the hood insulation piece & aluminium foot pedals, too. Or perhaps if you are willing, a nice set of 16"s, cos 17"s would be pushing it on the 1.6 H/B. Plus, if you take a cue out of the Polo Trophy, get the rear spoiler and paint it in gloss/piano black. It would look clean.

Yeah supposedly. The difference is negligible buuuuuttt the 1.2 TSI had it. I think I saw the armrest cheaper somewhere, perhaps you can try inquiring the people at Polo Sedan Club Malaysia. They have a few things that can fit the H/Back as well.

Over here, AND with our current heat wave, yea you would need a good tint. It's barely manageable with my 3M Crystalline, even. Previous offers had Ecotint installed in several models, I don't think they offer those anymore.

I would personally stay away from most 2010-2011 1.4 Mk6s, unless you know the seller well.

Golfs (and apparently a whole bunch of 1.4 TSIs) from 2010-11 are pretty notorious for their motor blowing up (okay I'm exaggerating) and transmission replacements due to the DSG issues at that time. Most units at 2nd hand dealers just .. sit there and get their warranties void from negligence of service intervals. Iirc 1.4 with CAVE codes are the infamous ones..
If possible I'd reccomend getting a 2015 Jetta with the current promo. If you count the interest rate for used - new car I think it'll be pretty much the same or close, anyway. A dealer offered me 60k for a '09 mk5 GTI. Friend's price so I can't disclose where though, heh. |

QUOTE(Jim.tan @ Apr 16 2016, 10:59 PM) Wow... 60K for GTi 09.. that's very closed to "selling to used car dealer price" What do you mean 3 months? Are they gonna make more Jettas..? Getting mixed answers from several dealers Anyway Jetta now waiting period is closed to 3 months for that 88,888 units QUOTE(AveoHzq @ Apr 16 2016, 11:48 PM) That would depend on what the R has. Sunfroof, Dynaudio, sport seats.. etc? |

jsflim , may I ask your Golf's VIN no? Because AFAIK even the early batches of the mk7s were involved in the mecha campaign.

VIN is your chasis number. You can look at the passenger side, on your windscreen outside, there should be a small slot with your vin near the wiper. Should be WVWZZZAUZxWxxxxxx.
I guess for privacy etc you should keep it secret, I just need to know the bolded part, either its D or E. Sometimes dealer swap/get parts from other dealers so.. but I doubt any dealer would want to let go of their mecha stock, hah. I've heard of mk7s with DSG breakdown, but I personally didn't know any. All of my contacts went for the mecha campaign and seems fine, so far. |

Don't hold it on me, but iirc, all D cars (2013 year of make) mk7s had to go for the mecha campaign and something else that I absolutely forgot what. E, or 2014, which is later batches, doesn't have to.
Thus even if the owner went for the campaign, the damage is already done on the mecha, depending on the unit's age and mileage and would most probably fail sooner or later. I do know that even 2014 and later batches does have an update for the DSG - 37J4, which is W-Reprogamming gearbox control unit. I still require a new set of clutches, though |

Yea that doesn't sound right. I'd get it sorted out asap. Don't want odd people at traffic lights to jump into your car aye.
And mine just popped up the odd 'Reverse Not Available'. Disappeared when I turned the car off-on, but man. I wonder if it'll make the appointment end of this month. |

Probably they just stock common & problem-prone parts, for now..? Like clutch/coil packs, etc etc.

Maybe too cheap. I'd say watch out. Or if possible, go take a look at the car, check its service book, and enquire with the service center on its service records, everything. Could be clean, could had its mecha/clutch changed, or even the whole engine.
Or prolly try looking at a '12 SE Golf. It has sunroof (and 17" stock wheels); if you fancy something like that.. I know I do |

Mmmm its the Polo Sedan facelift with 1.2 TSI. Basically they just bring in the Vento variants from India and assemble em here.

Yes its Polo Sedan. Vento sounds nicer aye? Should come in several variants - maybe 3 like in India. One might mistook it as a Jetta like the name used to be but wellll..
Indeed the Discover Pro retrofit is very interesting, with Carplay/Android Auto and such. Pair it with the reverse camera, and walla! 20k burned in a blink of an eye |
