i am going to phuket and phi phi and plan to do diving/snokerlling. there is this shark point, anamone reef, and king cruises dive there. It writes 'PADI IDC Phuket Thailand'. Does that mean the instructor is PADI-certified or do I need to get Padi cert first before diving in those spot?

Instructor can be any organization and PADI is one of them and its the famous one... Yes, u would require at least Open Water to dive this location. As for King Cruise, u may either require Wreck Specialty or Advanced Open Water Certification in order to dive that dive site. The rest, you may check with local dive centers. Even if you take Discovery Scuba, no license require and u only go down the maximum depth of 12m. Or usually the instructor just hang out around 8m... And as for dive site u mentioned above, all exceed 15m... unless they stay around 8m catching nemo, spotting sharks... |

However, u wont be able to see as much as most of the fish hang around 15m....Why don't u take up license and dive? Err... which dive center? U can try Scuba Cat, their shop in Patong. |

I have no problems with running the app and also viewing the videos on K-Lite player. I've run Premiere on my laptop before and it was usable. |

Video is better than photo.
Battery life, about one hour Housing is the one provided in package, Kingmax brand There is no LCD screen at back. Buy Go pro! But I think sj5000 for the screen This post has been edited by ericcc: Sep 8 2015, 12:31 PM |

Just came back from P.Payar, dived with East marine, went 2 dive site (Garden Coral & house reef), strong current, overall visibility is like how Munkey mentioned, 5m or worst.

Why not consider a manual-capable point & shoot like the canon s95 family? I'm using an s100 with a meikon housing, should come up to about 1.5k for both. Pros: versatile for photography, RAW support, zoom, manual white balance even for video, which means no need red filter..Cons: bulky, accessories should be pricey. Just a suggestion..

Sounds a bit more challenging than the usual relaxing east coast dives. How's the marine life? |
