Stayed in this so called 4 stars hotel located on the highest point of Brincang, last weekend, in their 2 rooms apartment. Should have known the rooms are going to be in bad state when I walked into the lobby.
This is the place where you find beautiful flowers, but the lobby's flowers display were teruk...5 stalks of Heliconias, all dried up with shreded leaves in the middle of the lobby. And it was there for 2 more days, before they finally remove it!

The staircase were dirty and stained with bird's dropping. Our rooms were dusty, especially under the bed (the floor is lamenated wood), toilet flush not working. This so called 4 stars hotel is worst than some 3 stars.
When request for a change of room, the receptionist said some of the apartments do not belong to them. I feel if they are charging me 4 stars room rate, then the quality should be 4 stars!!
The buffet breakfast was the same thru out our 3 days stay, nasi lemak, congee, bread, fruits, (cold) half boiled eggs, bread and butter pudding. Even my maid said the food is not nice!

Their service apartments sucks big time, I think you are not the first to note it... but I have always liked Equatorial... quiet peaceful and nice surroundings.

Stayed there for most of my trips, their hotel rooms are clean and comfy... well, maybe my taste and requirements aint that high but have never tried their Apartments.. maybe after so many complaints I will stick to their Hotel rooms.. wink.gif

Yes. The hotel is the Block in the middle where the lobby is. They also have Apartments in their second tower block as well as the rustic walk ups around the hotel.

I have stayed at Strawberry Park as well as Cool Point before but, I still find EQ to have one of the best in terms of locality and convenience. Maybe I got suckered by EQ... sad.gif. And on off periods, its below 200/- per night which I think is ok. Get the hotel rooms and ask for high floor overlooking Kea Farm or Tringkap... the view is great. Just DONT get one on 5 or 6th floor above their kitchen... SIGH.. makes u hungry all the time.. wink.gif.

Hey, let me explain my experiences at EQ and the bird droppings... they are guano actually.. BAT droppings. They can be seen coming back to the parking lots in the evenings.. wink.gif. I enjoyed seeing them nestle around corners and crevices.. and of course I look for spots to park my car away from their droppings.. wink.gif.

Stayed there way way back on my honeymoon... so was down at their coffee house for breakfast, it was January - flies were aplenty, its their season. Our breakfast was dining with flies as well as a plateful of flies caught in glue next to us and the waiters did nothing! We wrote in to the GM to complain... PRESTO.. next day we had complimentary drinks at their Cricket Lounge as well as a fantastic fruit basket on our departure!

Many visits later... when I have kids and all, we instructed them to clean up the room before 2pm as with a baby, we need the room to be ready when we are back from our excursion, but room was not made up... there we go round the mulberry bush again... wrote in to complain.. made hell of a noise! Viola! We had complimentary cakes that we were salivating on our way up near the lift served to us.. and PRESTO.. another fantastic fruit basket to our room the next morning!

One thing I learnt. If you are not satisfied.. make hell lot of a noise. You are bound to get noticed. On my second brush with them, I actually took the letter straight to the GM's office when the Manager on Duty was just apologising and I say its lip service! The Manager was asked to apologize to us again on our departure.. (actually I felt bad for her) but... well... since then, my experiences at EQ was pretty pleasant.

On matter that they say the Apt does not belong to them, maybe its a 3rd party unit, meaning they did not sub it out to EQ to manage for them. Just my thoughts, am not justifying for EQ. This is the same as Genting View Resort as well.

As I have said, it may be a private apartment being rented out by the owner. I really cant say much as I have not had experience with the Apartments. But they are all within the vicinity of EQ.

I hv been to EQ and hv run a 3d2n event at thier hotel. I find tat thier staffs are every helpful and the rooms are clean.

I'm not saying nice thing on behalf of the hotel but bcoz the delegates of the event tat i organized are a bunch of hard to please people. So if there is no complaint frm them regarding the rooms n foods then i guess it is fair to say tht EQ is not as terrible as been claim here.

Also, i hv stayed at thier 2 rooms apartment and i enjoy staying there and will definitely stay there again.

it depends on the unit itself
some are belong to private owner some belongs to eq themselves
if u r lucky getting units from themselves, count urself very lucky
else u will be cursing n swearing like TS did

once in a lifetime experience n i will never go back to eq apartments anymore

It does not matter who the unit belongs to, EQ should make sure the basic standard is there. How can they called themselves 4 star, charging 4 star but service is below par. This is not fair.

I tried to request for a change of room as mine was walk up apartment and on the top floor (2nd floor). Mainly bcos I am travelling 2 children below age 3 and my mum have leg problem.
Was told all 2 rooms apartment are located on the top floor, which later I found out this is not true.

Question: Did you book your Apartment through EQ?

If yes, then you have a case against EQ. I have never had problems requesting for room change when I find somethings not working, eg. toilet leaky on one instance.

If no, then you might have booked it through an agent who may own the unit itself, hence the onus is NOT on EQ to maintain it as the owners have ceased the contract of renting out and managed by EQ themselves but for a small fee just to handle check ins and check outs. As all the maintenance to the unit is the responsibility of the owner, it will be unfair to lay it on EQ.

I am not promoting the hotel nor justifying, just to clarify on what basis and criteria one is judging the hotel from, so it actually matters who owns the unit. Moreover, I hibernate in Camerons 3 times a year at least and not many bad experiences. Even if there is any, we were the ones blowing it out of proportion rclxm9.gif

I guess I'm not good at "making hell of a noise" and get complimentry fruit basket.
I expect to get what I paid for, which is not too asking for too much!!
