Can somebody please provide input on this?
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5093034 I just filed return for YA 17, 18, 19 yesterday. Taxes deducted via PCB correctly. Tax filing for 2017 to 2019 was done voluntarily (I mean I didn’t kena audit or something). Will i kena any fine? My honest reason I didn’t file is because I thought deduction via PCB was enough, and I thought the whole filing taxes thing was complicated. Obviously, I was wrong on both counts. P.S. LHDN eLejar system correctly captures that my taxes were “paid” on each April 30th for past 3 years. This is also via the PCB collections. QUOTE(MUM @ Jan 27 2021, 01:52 PM) Quoting the article:Starting from Malaysia income tax Year of Assessment 2014 (tax filed in 2015), taxpayers who have been subjected to MTD are not required to file income tax returns if such monthly tax deductions constitute their final tax. However, they should still file if they want to reduce their taxable income through reliefs. This is more a convenience factor to allow those who did not file to not have negative records. Where is the proof that says taxpayers don’t need to file income tax if there is monthly PCB deduction done (which is what I understand the above paragraph is implying)? Given the above, I should then be safe? |

QUOTE(Zenith5229 @ Mar 10 2021, 02:06 PM) Not sure if this is the right place to ask , so sorry in advance if its not . Was the 2019 tax paid via PCB? Is there a refund amount? Is the refund more than RM200?So in short i did not declare my 2019 taxes , i declared last week along with the 2020 one , i got slapped with RM 200 penalty under subsection 112(3) for failing to adhere section 77 . My question : I cannot find the exact description to pay for this penalty in ez.hasil ( byr hasil ) Also, my E-lejar shows a surplus , so do i still need to pay ? ( What i mean is , E-Lejar has this penalty amount shown inside and the final amount is still a surplus ) If yes to all, you don’t need to do anything. Zenith5229 liked this post

QUOTE(wyen @ Mar 15 2021, 05:01 PM) I remember number of years back we able to make pindaan online for 1 time but i cant find it. Is there anyway i can amend without submit any letter to lhdn? Around RM750 (if you are in the higher brackets).Found few pages back it will only appear on 1/4/2021. The pindaan can only be made 1 time without submitting any documents right? They charged me rm14k for deduction and only able to get rm3k bayaran balik. I forgot to put rm3k for PRS deposit. Likely how much will they refund me if include PRS? |

QUOTE(ichigo kawasaki @ Apr 11 2021, 11:42 AM) Life insurance and EPF I believe MRTA is NOT ELIGIBLE for the tax relief.Refer to Working Sheet HK-14. Deduction is allowed for payment of premiums on life insurance policy contracted on the life of the individual, husband or wife / wives. Deduction is not allowed on premiums paid for life insurance policy contracted on the life of the child. Last year i bought a property , so life insurance taken for new housing loan is allowable for tax deduction/relief as long as the insurance taken to cover the life of borrower, right? |

On the LHDN website, the following is stated:
----- Lifestyle – Expenses for the use / benefit of self, spouse or child in respect of: purchase and subscription of books / journals / magazines / newspapers (including electronic subscription) / other similar publications (Not banned reading materials) purchase of personal computer, smartphone or tablet (Not for business use) purchase of sports equipment for sports activity defined under the Sports Development Act 1997 and payment of gym membership payment of monthly bill for internet subscription (Under own name) https://www.hasil.gov.my/bt_goindex.php?bt_...sequ=1&bt_lgv=2 ----- If wife buys a phone, but the husband pays for it (say, using husband's credit card), yet the phone is purchased under wife's own name due to existing line with telco, can the husband claim for tax relief? QUOTE(emino @ Dec 24 2021, 12:58 PM) Why u nak bazir lifestyle on smartphone this year when theres a totally separate special tax relief of up to RM2,500 on the purchase of mobile phones, computers and tablets? Unless of course your gadget purchase already more than 2.5k I believe the separate rm2.5k tax relief exists for both this year and next year.Edit: nvm i just saw the separate category is also called lifestyle lol |

--------- For the above, if husband and wife separate filing, but the husband buys the phone for the wife, however the invoice is addressed to the wife as it was a upfront purchase under her contract (i.e. Maxis), would the husband be qualified to claim tax relief under his filing? Of course, in that scenario, the wife would not claim. The wording is ambiguous as it does not say the purchase has to be under own name, just that the purchase has to be for the self or family usage. Hope this can be clarified. Thanks! |

Hi folks,
If I have to pay tax of RM1,000 for YA 2021, can I pay RM500 this month and a remainder RM500 in April? Or must I do it in one go? |
