QUOTE(icecoolman @ Aug 3 2016, 03:38 PM) Hope you guys can reply to this as there's so many postings before so I can't really trace back if this question was asked before. Whatever amount of Rental Income received, must be filed Income Tax. That's the law.I was wondering if any sifu here can advice if my condominium is rented out to a company and of course they put into their accounting books. In such case, do I need to also file in my income tax for receiving rental? Or if the amount is less than a certain amount, I can take the risk and not file in my income tax? If so, what is the amount and what is the possibility of LHDN coming after me ... If possible, I wish not to declare in my income tax but just worried LHDN might be able to find out. Hope someone could provide some advice on this. |

Tax Relief YA 2016
◦ Children supporting parents, even if not living together, will receive a tax relief of RM1,500 for both parents, if the parents are above 60. Questions: 1. Is it RM1500 for father and RM1500 for mother or combine RM1500 for father & mother ? 2. If oneof the parent passes away somewhere in 2016, can I still claim tax relief for 2016 ? |

So total claimable on RM237 per year Kindly note that effective Jan. 1, 2016, the Malaysian government had introduced a new Socso employee contribution tax relief of up to a maximum of RM250 per year. |

QUOTE(lioncarlsberg @ Apr 2 2017, 10:33 PM) Name of taxpayer? Are you sure about that? IF you can produce the receipt to match what you are claiming, you will be fine. When you buy books at MPH, Popular, or at the local bookshop, they will issue you the receipt with your name? When you buy badminton racquet from Parkson or Jusco, the receipt will put your name? Having your name on the receipt ENSURES only you can claim the tax relief. |

QUOTE(Catherine85 @ Apr 5 2017, 12:31 AM) Another question to ask: It's not based on who pays the actual amount... you will argue until the cows come home also you will be wrong.1.Medical insurance for my child, auto payment by my credit card. Can I pass to my spouse to claim it? 2. Complete medical examination is meant for individual self, spouse and child. If the bill is paid by my husband for all of us, can I claim the amount? Thanks. The best and more important to have the RIGHT name on the receipt. Medical Insurance must have either your name or spouse name ... then that person can claim it. The same goes for (2). |

QUOTE(rocketm @ May 12 2017, 02:44 PM) Hi, can I know whether the lifestyle tax relief is going to implement on next year income tax assessment 2017 (submit in year 2018)? 1. You can use multiple receipts as long all receipts are issued in the SAME year. Cannot mix Year 2017 receipts with Year 2018 receiptsWhere can I get more details information? As I know the lifestyle tax relief constitutes purchase of computer, laptop, internet subscription, gym, reading materials and so on for max RM2500 per year. My questions are 1. How many year of the receipt can I use to claim? 2. For computer I claim at year 1 for RM1000 (example), will this RM1000 take into account for next year (year 2) which means year 2 i only can claim RM 1500 only? Thanks if someone can answer my inquiries. 2. No. Claim RM1000 Lifestyle Tax Relief in Year 2017. Year 2018 can claim another RM2500 Lifestyle Tax Relief. No more every 3 years thingy for Lifestyle Tax Relief. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Jun 29 2017, 02:52 PM) But if one is buying cryptocurrencies to keep, later on, its value appreciated and make a profit through it then it may be deemed as capital gain, whereby capital gain is not subjected to tax. What is the definition of "done frequently" ? Selling collectible card at a profit, especially if done frequently like shop selling ordinary goods (aka trading), actually it is subjected to tax. There is never a tax ruling saying selling collectible cards, points or whatever at a profit is not taxable. The grey area is between the trading and capital gain, not about cryptocurrencies or pokemon collectible is not subjected to tax as no tax ruling saying they are tax exempted. Every day = taxable Every month = taxable Every year = non-taxable |

QUOTE(Pain4UrsinZ @ Apr 19 2019, 12:56 PM) Try this TAX RELIEF instead..... Based on Section 46(1)(q)(a) of Income Tax Act 1967, breastfeeding equipment refers to a breast pump kit and an ice pack, a breast milk collection and storage equipment, and a cooler set, or bag. According to a document by Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN), this tax relief, which can only be claimed once every two years, is applicable to working women with children aged two years and below. It is understood that this deduction will not be allowed for a year of assessment immediately following that year of assessment. This means that if a claim for this tax relief is made for the year of assessment 2017, then the next claim can only be made for the year of assessment 2019. This tax relief is fairly new, as it was first announced in 2016 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during the tabling of Budget 2017. Like most, if not all tax relief claims, individuals must keep and provide the receipt(s) as evidence of purchase or payment |
