Yeah. Anyway I heard a very loud lightning strike during the rain while I was at home that day. Judging by the time gap between lightning and thunder, it seems really really nearby. Maybe it was a lightning strike straight to the surge arrestor? Perhaps you can ask them to check your surge arrestor as well.
*
Ya..will ask them to check the arrestor as well.

Hi,

where is the surge arrester located? If there is a surge arrester then it should protect the equipments from damage. Possible to share a photo?

If I'm not mistaken the arrestor is placed at the highest point of the particular house. Will snap the pics later.

The surge arrestor has to be checked for proper grounding. It functions to divert the strike to earth, if not properly grounded it is basically useless.

Never expect such defect would occur in SD project if it is true. Furthermore houses there are located in a mountainous region, the developer should be aware of the risk. Now i'm worried!

Hi there,

Seems like its a major issue. Any updates from the developer so far? I'm starting to get worry that it might also affect my unit.

On the roof top leaking, i have actually observed a slight watermark in the second room ceiling. Have reported this but usure if the developer has rectified this.

Though Saron is affordable house, of all the problems i see our forumers posted so far, it gives me the feel that the developer was cutting corners to maximize their margin.

My Saron 2nd room also has a very obvious water mark. What is the output from your report to SD ?

yeah, same happen to my units, the water leaking on 2nd room upstair. yesterday had ask the contractor repair it.
there had 1 pc of roof tiles been exchange. not sure if the wind blow off or what.
As before it, raining doesnt have this leaking.
also, my down light was burnt out 2 units but can do exchange due warranty for 1 year.
no others cost involved.

any leaking, need to ask SD to do repair immediately, these few days have heavy rain in the evening time.

How did you noticed the leak? Obvious stain on the plaster ceiling or you climbed into the attic?

Hi All,

I have met the M&E of SD yesterday evening. They have checked the arrestor and grounding of the house. There is no issue on the wiring and the arrestor. They even inspected the arrestor grounding. It was in good condition. Reading was 0.2ohm (below 3ohm is consider good condition). The culprit that causes the things burnt was the Astro dish. It was installed by Astro contractor which is not according to spec. It it located at the same level of the arrestor (too high). I never realized the placement of the dish since it was installed during dusk.

I requested them to check if there is any leakage from the roof tiles that can cause shorting to my down lights. It resulted the found a cracked roof tiles. Immediately replaced. But that crack is too small any does not contribute to any leakage. So, the conclusion is the Astro dish that contributes to the damages.

Will Astro be responsible of this issue?

Thanks for the feedback. One of the reno contractor mentioned that that area is very prone to lightning strike. So have to be careful. I'm planning to install a surge protection device on the switchboard to minimize the risk.

Please share the SPD that you're planning to install. My electrical guy suggested BY1 Voltage Surge Suppressors by EPS. Don't know how good it is and never heard of the brand before.

Sure will do. Some reputable brands that you can consider either ABB or Schneider Electric.

Not sure bout this. Will check after a heavy rain. Problem is my staircase light was also affected, which I found strange. I've also not installed Astro yet.
