How long filter can last is depending on your house water quality. I think this one using membrane right? if water is dirty, might be very fast will need to change?

Change it yearly for any carbon based filter regardless of usage. I would say that 3M is quite aggressive with their schedule, Easy Complete was 6 months, while it easily lasted a year. For your calculation, consider that you will be changing all 3 yearly anyway, unless some of these do not have carbon and yet you can change the carbon one separately.

good thing about DWS2500T is that it have a filter lifespan indicator

not sure how accurate is it though, have to get real user feedback

Remember that we are a bit special in Malaysia. Our tap water is warm, sometimes 30 degrees and even higher, compared to say in Europe it is 10 degrees. Therefore, when you are reading "1.5 years or 8000L" it is ok for Europe, but in Malaysia you can assume that carbon doesn't last longer than 1 year in warm water.

The indicator on the filter mainly counts the liters, it doesn't follow the degradation of carbon.

in that case the DWS2500T is quite an expensive system to maintain in the long run....

2.2k for the system itself. Assuming both filter change every year - RM700 (the replacement cost like 750+ actually), 5 years x 700 is already 3.5k

total would be 5.7k.... and this is just a 'basic' countertop system without any hot or cold water function

It depends, do you need hot/cold water function or simple undersink would be enough.

if you come to this thread to ask, well yes, both are highly recommended to have one.

if you tight on budget, just get Internal one (POU - Point of Use)

otherwise, here always recommend to get both.

for landed because you have plenty of space, the most affordable value for money are those Sand based Filter for POE - Point of Entry. As for internal one, is really up to personal preference. You can refer to first page guide to ask your question again so that we can know which to recommend you about model/brand.

CODE
1. landed or condo?
2. how many pax in your household?
3. got senior / babies / people with disease like kidney failure for example in the house?
4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?)
5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth?
6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k?
7. do you own external water filter yet?
8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water?

For outdoor filter, if you want super clean water, can go for membrane filter, but membrane filter need to back wash very frequent, suggest at least 2 days one time to avoid clogged (also still need to depend your house water quality, some area really yellow)

for internal filter, LG Puricare for long run cost saving.

Depends. Spend most of your budget for the inside drinking filter. Outside filter, it depends on your expectations and your current issues. I would start with the filter for drinking water and then see what kind of issues are there, if any, then come back and ask whether PoE will be able to solve those or not. Read this for better understanding of what PoE can or can't do, then you can determine for yourself https://frescatec.com/poe-explanation/

Hi, newbie here asking advice on the water filter recommendation.

1. landed or condo? Condo
2. how many pax in your household? 2 to 4 pax
3. got senior / babies / people with disease like kidney failure for example in the house? no, but have 4 cats.
4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?) if no drilling and stuff required then yes
5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth? 150/m
6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k? one off can be considered too
7. do you own external water filter yet? no
8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water? with family planning in place, function with different temperatures will be ideal

I've been approached by nesh sales personnel, offered 3 in 1 package costing 6988, including:
1. outdoor filter
2. qoozo water filter
3. water dispenser with temperature setting

I don't really want to spend so much budget on this aspect and would like to understand how thing works.

Both are totally different. LG PuriCare is Tankless, direct from tap, water supply is continuous, instant hot water ready in 3 seconds. The best is can auto sterilise with high temperature every weekly.

Bacfree with Tank, need to refill water frequently. Imagine early morning wanna to have a hot drink but the tank is empty. Water dispenser with tank will have a risk of microogranism growth.
