I’m thinking along the lines where if they simply raise prices later then abit susah.

I think so far no case like that kut
*
Its a two way contract, fixed rate.

If you decide to end early, have to pay penalty.

Usually price increase if any, is after the rental period over. LG does offer careship plan over 5 year period, which does allow outright purchase buyer to avoid having to pay more in the long run, especially when our currency is bad like now.

If using the standtype, then 3 years service on outright purchase. I just sold one of this.

And careship price differs based on model and type of service

Your price is for WD516AN on self service.

Attached is careship reference for entire line up.

Can DM for promo or info.

Only if there is a difference in mineral content and iron. I would say that in KL area mineral content is pretty much the same everywhere, not much difference to change the taste, but iron... Actually I was partially wrong in the previous post now that I think about it. If your filter is able to remove dissolved iron, like Disruptor for instance, it may make the water taste "softer", but it is acquired taste. For example, I grew up in an area where we had lots of this iron in water, so tap water tasted delicious for me, since I was used to it. Bottled water tasted soapy. Nowadays, if I drink iron rich water, it has this uncomfortable taste, more like a feel of mud, hard to describe.

All of this is actually a lot more important when we talk about water based drinks. Like coffee geeks prefer to have lots of Mg, tea lovers do not want iron in their water, since they want as soft of a taste as possible, etc. For most people, they can get used to pretty much any filtered water, even RO. It takes maybe 1-2 months to get used to RO, but one you do, it will be super hard to go back to "mineral".

Wondering if there is any small size model? Any brand will do. I have seen Cuckoo and Coway products and their machines are quite big for our small kitchen top haha. Or is that the standard size already?

Sorry, first time surveying for one.
*
Are you looking for ambient only or combination of ambient/hot and cold?

There is a model from SK Magic which is small but ambient only.

LG can go flat against the wall with 17cm depth. But length is 41cm. Can this fit? If need more info on LG can DM me.

Those who using LG, do u still boil water ar? Or direct drink ady?
*
My house depends, all of us drink direct, except for my dad.

Since LG comes with hot water supply, so my dad uses that and cools down the water to drink.

He used to do that even when we were using the undersink filter which we have since removed.

Point to note, LG max temperature is 85 DegC and most tankless dispensers on the market output temperature is 85 DegC; even though some do market it as 90DegC. I haven't found a 3 in one dispenser which can output 100DegC water.

Key features on the LG include UV light at the output nozzle, which can be manually activated (if you want it to be on every time you dispense water) and it does turn turn on the UV every hour to sterilize the output nozzle. If not mistaken Jiksoo has this feature as well, but price wise Jiksoo is on the higher side.

This is not an issue for making hot drinks like coffee etc; but when it comes to instant noodle, I somehow feel the water should be hotter. In my household, we don't consume instant noodles; so its not an issue for us.

Doesn't Cuckoo Titan has 100°C hot water? Seen they market it that way but haven't tested whether it makes up to their claim or not
*
Doesn't achieve 100 DegC, 85DegC measured in the cup same as others. Even Coway Kecil same, 85 DegC although it mentions 90DegC in all materials.

My own Seers 3 Second Dispenser, output is 95 DegC; not exactly 100 DegC.

But 85 to 95 does make a difference for Instant noodles.

Hmm i can understand if claim 90°C but measured 85°C since the cup is cold and will lower the temperature a bit...

But if they claim 100°C but still measured 85°C then diff a bit too big.... Some more they claim loudly "other brands 85°C, our model 100°C"  hmm.gif
*
To be fair, it is possible that particular unit maybe defective. Need to retest elsewhere

Those that sells alkaline water usually claims that "according to a UK research, alkaline water provides such benefits bla bla bla...", but these research agencies are usually funded by these brands that are doing the selling... Of coz they speak for those who pay them....

Hydrogen water is a similar case i believe, so far no scientific evidence yet, but many are alrd selling at sky high prices, even though their machine looks last generation and still not even tankless
*
Alkaline do have some benefit based on user experience, I wouldn't want to disregard them directly as I do not have the experience in dealing with it. Also need to consider effect of long term use when drinking alkaline water.

Hydrogen water I am skeptical, as we know water is made up of H20, so how do you get extra Hydrogen in the water? Possibly in gas form?

Both alkaline and hydrogen are marketing tricks and nothing else and at very best may have short placebo effect.

Here is an article from McGill, my alma matter and the most reputable universities in Canada.

*
Thanks for sharing, however, its an article and not research paper.

The only way to dispel it completely, would be trough research and testing.

I'm not for it, nor against it, but if people want to buy it; then do your own reading and understand what you are getting instead of relying solely on marketing talks.

For LG puricare, self.service or regular visit is better? Thinking of saving some costs
*
If going for WD516AN or WD518AN model, you can opt for self service for overall savings.

Reason why LG can offer self service is because these two models have auto hot water internal sterilisation (done on weekly basis) and UV light auto sterilise outlet every hour.

Internal pipe after filter are all made of Stainless Steel.

The only other brand which offer stainless steel internal pipe is SK Magic Jiksoo, price is much more higher compared to LG and no self service available.

PMed you more info

Question about LG Puri Care WD516, I am considering to buy outright RM2800 for this model.

But I have few queries as below,

Currently using external water pipe that connects to the kitchen. During hot weather, it can get really hot. Does the hot water affect the internal parts and shorten the life span of the filter?
*
RM2800 is such a good deal, well below market price.

Guys, I will be moving to a condo unit and would like to fix a purifier for drinking water. All this while, I have used the Panasonic purifier/alkaline, connected to the faucet, which switches between the purifier and tap via a lever on the faucet nozzle. This set up has the two rubber hoses over the sink and looks messy. Is there a cleaner set up to get drinking water using any of the many systems out there?
*
Depends on your budget.

If you don't require hot or cold water, can get undersink type like Aquaphor with a faucet at the sink.

There are minimalist style undersink purifier with hot water (with tank) like Intrix and hot + cold water like Wells; this options are costly.

For table top minimalist design can get LG, as this model have flexible nozzle arrangement; allowing you to install flush against the wall. For the water inlet, outlet and plug, you can hide it all if you drill a grommet. Making a neat installation.

Thanks for the info. That is the very reason I am holding back my purchase for water purifier. Yes, housing pipes are exposed to direct sunlight and the water flow through the kitchen and bathrooms can get really hot.

Other reason why I was considering LG is because it gives me the flexibility to self service the filter but having the abnormal hot water coming in is just a drawback now. Do you have any alternative towards this other than the mini tank?
*
Insulate the exposed part of your pipe? Alternatively "bleed" the warm water first before using the purifier.

You can choose to collect this warm water for other use, and once the water from the tap runs cool, you can use the purifier.

Almost all water purifier have shut off valve at the inlet, LG has two, one nearer inlet of the water purifier (and another at the connection point) and Aquaphor has one at the inlet end. You may shut off this valve, during the afternoon and remember to "bleed" your tap water until it runs cold and then turn on the purifier.

Operational method to safeguard your filter or water purifier instead of adding hardware smile.gif

Any recommended counter top 3 or 4 stages water filter (without hot/cold water) with reasonable price filter cartridges for future replacement?

Had a look at Aquasana but counter top only have 2 stages.

PS: already have POE sand based water filter outside the house
*
Can consider the following
Jiksoo Mini 3 stage at RM49/month

If your concern is about energy usage, tankless purifier like Cuckoo Titan or LG only heat water on demand; standby consumption for LG is about 6watts or 0.36 units per day.

I'm not sure about others as haven't tested.

I’m interested to get a LG at promo RM50/month, but my dillema is I still have a unit of cuckoo king top, finished payment, but I want to sell it instead of discarding it.
*
Any reason you want to change? If the reason is due to power consumption, then possibly have to calculate and see if its worth discarding or sell for scrap.

Other option is donate to charitable organisations, and there are many idependent service available as well for cuckoo and coway.

LG does offer significant energy savings compared to cuckoo King Top, Some of my customers did manage to reduce up to 50% from their energy bill.
