I am not a filter expert. I guess ceramic's advantage is its outer surface can be scrubbed clean and reused several times; i.e. eco & pocket friendly.

As for the price, it can vary a lot, ranging from RM129 for Doulton to RM8 for a little known brand?.
*
I remember causing more harm to the filter when cleaning it while my parents used it before as a prefilter back then with our Lux Appliances Water Purifier in the 90s.

Overtightening it by hand can cause it to break as well, eventually we stopped using the water purifier and was scrapped somewhere in the late 2000s.

Anyone has contact where I can purchase the filter cartridge for SK Magic Ria. I asked some but they only offer yearly membership which costs around RM 550.
*
Try Shoppee? I saw a few selling compatible units for SK Magic.

SK Magic Ria is tankless design but doesn't have internal sterilisation function unlike LG Tankless.

To be safe, would still be better to be serviced by SK Magic personnel; or if you know how to DIY the sterilisation that's best; to reduce any accumulated build up of bacteria within the unit.

SK Magic Ria does have UV sterilisation.

I bought the filter from shopee and changed it myself. The filter are much lighter than the original.

I just couldn't find and buy the original filter without subscribing to their yearly membership.
*
Yup, UV sterilisation is available only at outlet but not the internal piping. Hence, why SK Magic require on site annual servicing.

IMHO, I still feel its best to go back with SK Magic annual membership, in terms of assurance that you get filtered water as per manufacturer standard and assurance that your purifier is working at optimum condition

QUOTE(ironcrowz @ Jan 5 2024, 11:54 PM)
Don't mind me posting the questions u PM me over here so everyone can see

Q1. 517 is in fact an older model than 516 and 518 (don't ask me why, small potato like me can't question the decisions of our HQ  sweat.gif ) So it's been phased out

So let's just focus on 516 and 518  biggrin.gif

They only have 3 differences, both model same price:
1) 518 has 10ml volume control (between 120~1000ml, i.e. 120, 130, 140, 150 all the way to 1000ml as u like), 516 can use the preset 120, 250, 500 and 1000ml only
2) 518 has favourite presets - Can set 3 favourite presets, (i.e. Preset A = 120ml 40°C say for baby formula, Preset B = 270ml 85°C for coffee, Preset C = 620ml normal temperature for water bottle etc.), 1 button to change both volume and temperature that you use most frequently
3) 518 water tap cannot move 180° horizontally like 516 can, due to it being square design, but can still be installed horizontally, just that once installed cannot move the tap as u like
516 water tap can move horizontally as desired, i always use vertical for cup then swing it to the right when i fill up my bottles/cooking pot

Q2. Monthly rental for self-service is RM60 or RM90, regular visit is RM80 or RM110 depend if u take 5 or 7 yrs contract

Q3. Our pricing can be confusing sry bout that notworthy.gif

If rental customer need to choose 2 things:
1) Choose 5 or 7 yrs contract
2) Choose self-service or regular visit

Self-service is very easy, also cheaper, so always recommended unless at home no one knows how to change filter (says elderly ppl, OKU etc.)

Personally i recommend 7 yrs self-service:
1) The machine is tankless, so don't need technician visit to clean the tank anyway, so LG designed the machine with self-service functions, customer just change the filter then the machine will flush the new filter automatically, also can clean it more frequently unlike technician only visit every few months
2) Cheaper than regular visit, even cheaper if take 7 yrs
3) 5 yrs contract is more expensive overall, cuz at 3rd year it gives u an option (to return the unit, keep using the unit or upgrade to a newer model).
But i think is unnecessary, we are alrd offering what LG Korea have except 1 model where they add voice control to 518, which i cant think of a scenario for it to be useful (mayb put a cup there and run far far away then shout "dispense water"?  biggrin.gif )

Q4. Both filters and warranty are covered during the whole 5/7 yrs, if rosak, LG fix for u completely free, compressor warranty even longer at 10 yrs

Q5. Yes, after rental period ends, you own the machine and can continue use it, just buy filter package will do (but no more warranty ya)
*
Good points bro,

Just to add,
Jiksoo Hyper is using sus304 internal + UV light for output but no hot water sterilisation of internal piping available.

Also monthly rental for Hyper is RM79/month for quarterly visit + Filter over 7 years, which makes its overall cost to be about 6k+ range.

LG does self sterilisation on weekly basis and on demand as required on top of the hourly UV light sterilisation. Which can be viewed and control using the LGThinQ app.

Also, so far in the market, if I'm not mistaken up to now, only LG has inverter compressor for cold water. The rest are still using the non inverter compressor. And this translates to overall energy savings.

Hyper definitely not using inverter compressor.

That being said, do test and try out the water first before deciding on your water purifier. Design is part of the equation, but the water output which you drink should be the ultimate method to make a decision.

Icic. Does the white colour turning yellowish after years? Worrying about white yellow due to this.

I had chosen navy blue instead.

Hard to say and depends on UV light presence from sunlight as well, like direct installation facing sunlight (beside window) or in conjunction of UV light + heat can cause such issues.

There are smart way to overcome this, using water proof wallpaper decals from Kaison or so to customise the outer layer of the water purifier and you can replace, if you need a different look to it.

Navy blue hard to see dirt, and some like the polished look of silver. All depends on preference.

Yes you can leave it at always on position, please use LG ThinQApp to set your preferred hour and date for auto high temp internal sterilisation.

There will be a down time of about 2hours (cleaning + resume of cold water), hence best to do set it at a time when no one is using the water purifier probably middle of the night.

Icic. Thanks for the reminder. I had set it now.

I love the blue colour which is nice. Think I had chosen the right colour. 😊

Besides do u guys turn off the hot water standby to save energy?

Hot Water Standby? My dispenser is always on, LG power consumption is only 6Watt at standby as hot water is boiled on demand. If you turn it off, most likely consumption will be higher as the compressor need to turn on at max speed to cool down the ice tube before slowing down (inverter compressor).

The electricity usage is it considered very high?

user posted image

The average per month energy usage is about 10kWh to 13kWh depends on your hot and cold water consumption rate. If mostly ambient water is used, then it will be around 10kWh or less.

even at 13kWh/month, considering the maximum tariff rate for electricity at RM0.57, it comes up to less than RM 8/month.

If your overall tariff band is not reaching the maximum tariff, your overall bill will be lower; generally tank based water purifier consumption is much higher than this as water is constantly being heated (keep warm) in a tank and cold water is kept cold using tank; LG also uses inverter compressor for cold water, this offers maximum savings. From user experience, there has been reduction of at least RM20/month after switching to LG Tankless compared to other tank based water purifier systems.

that's good. at least i can be assured of the 7 years of worry free experience.
ya. i hope they have better colours. silver one in bolehland does not look nice. white one also looks very normal and nothing special. blue is slightly better but also not very impressive.
rm8/day!?  shocking.gif

u mean rm8/month i guess?

yes, the cold water is damn cold i must. seriously even i want to drink cold water, i need to mix it with ambient water, becos it is simply too cold.  tongue.gif

yeah. i also believe that tankless should use less electricity.

Icic. Thanks for sharing on the difference.

So 7 years rental plan no option to upgrade the unit?
*
Don't have as you own the unit at year 7, but you can opt to sell it off at year 8 (not sure how much new filter cost then).

Also rental offers you 7 years of warranty vs 1 year with outright. Considering General warranty, rental makes better sense but some people intend to upgrade after 2 years. In this sense, outright cheaper. After 2 years you sell your unit via carousell of FB Marketplace and upgrade, but honestly all my purifier been used until End of Life.

QUOTE(HeroesSlayer @ Feb 27 2024, 04:56 PM)
Does the LG water purifier have continuous water mode for normal water (not hot or cold), because there are times that I need to have 3L of water and wonder if this can support. Also if hot or cold water what is the maximum volume that it can support at one time?

The pricing is fix for the next 7 years if let say I sign onto the package and wont change within that period right?
*
Yes there is 3 minute continuous flow mode. And also selection of up to max 1 litre water.

Since its tankless, you can keep drawing water as you like (no hot or no cold).

Cold is also limitless, however once you draw more than 2l,it becomes less cold and require about 30 minutes to achieve max coldness again.

Hot water max limit is 1l and have to wait about 10 to 20 minutes for the induction heating plate to cool down before drawing hot water again.

Price is fixed for 7 years on rent to own. Currently RM 60/month for 7 years self service.

Hi I am officially rent LG PuriCare WD516AN for 7 years

I have questions to ask

1. When I want to drink air suam, the installer said choose hot with 40 celcius, my question is what is the different between this hot 40 celcius and ambient drink?
At first I thought ambient drink was air suam,

2. My second question is LG ThinQ apps which show High temp sterilization and got Last internal pipe sterilization, Last water outlet sterilization & schedule internal pipe sterilization. My question is that same with the second photo on physical WD516AN which show Internal Sterilize = schedule internal pipe sterilization?

3. My third question is when I ask installer regarding schedule high-temp sterilization, he said the process took only 15 minutes to do this process? is it true?

4. What is the function outlet sterilize? Is is neccessary or must to do outlet sterilize because as I know is it not automatic like the internal sterilize and must do manual and when I ask the installer, he said is my decision to do or not
*
Point 1: Ambient water is same temp as your ambient. Air suam is usually warm water, hence LG Technician recommend this temp to you. Usually baby milk is mixed at this temperature.

Point 2: Internal pipe sterilisation in the app is the same as the physical button on the water purifier. Outlet sterilisation button will dispense hot water to sterilise the outlet spout, this will take 15 minutes to complete.

Point 3: High Temp internal sterilisation takes 15 mins to complete, and purifier is down during this period. It will take estimated about 2hours for cold water to resume (at max temp after sterilising). Usually my personal recommendation is to set this at mid morning or whenever the use of the purifier is not required.

Point 4: Internally there is UV light which sterilises the internal of the outlet spout every hour. This outlet sterilise flushes hot water to the water outlet, sterilising with hot water. If you frequently use hot water, this may not be necessary to be performed, again my personal recommendation is to run it once a month.

For point 1 also I want to ask regarding baby milk so can be mixed with ambient water?
*
Usually for babies, the milk is best at our body temperature, 37 to 40degC. Hence the availability of this temperature for LG water purifier.

Ambient is usually lower temp than this.

1. Internal pipe sterilisation auto weekly, to flush with hot water the machine's internal pipings - this is what purpose?

2. Water outlet UV sterilisation is auto hourly, to kill bacteria growing on its surface  - this one understand purpose to kill bacteria

3. Water outlet sterilisation (hot water flushing) is manual, cuz it uses hot water to flush the outlet,(this is what purpose?) so must put a container
*
Item 3 yup need to place container and it is to flush the outlet with hot water (hot water sterilising)

Actually any PoE would work. The difference is whether you want a system with backwash or just a disposable cartridge? You can read this article, it is not selling anything, but will give you a better understanding. Again, any type will work whether sand, membrane or cartridge.

Sand filter type need media replacement too right after few years?

I was actually looking at intact water POE to replace my 3M AP902 as I find the filters becoming more expensive due to our currency
