Like I said on Monday, I went to the screening of the film today and I said I would review it. Well, here it is. (SPOILERS AHEAD)
It was very good.
First, the positives. Sam Worthington stole the show and actually had a bigger part than Bale. He was a machine, as depicted in the trailers, but had a more human-like quality. He had a heart, for one, and he was more emotional. Helena Bonham Carter was good, although she didn't have a big role. And the action was phenomenal, especially the mototerminator scene, which actually happens about 30 minutes in, not at the beginning like some people said. Also, the music. The theme goes on often, especially during the emotional scenes. Danny Elfman wrote his own version of the theme, and did a remarkable job. No heavy metal music appears, and Rihanna does NOT do any music. Schwarzenegger does make an appearance, and you can swear it was really him, even though it was CGI.
Now, the negatives. Linda Hamilton does not do a voice over, but instead records her voice on a tape recorder that John frequently listens to. It didn't kill the film, but it was promised that it would be in the opening of the film, which wasn't the case. Another negative was Bale. The guy isn't really that good of an actor, and he is way below Worthington in this film. Also, Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate Connor had a very small role, which was disappointing. Also the PG13 rating, but it doesn't really affect the movie.
Overall, this film met all my expectations. It was WAY better than T3, and about as good as the first, but still doesn't reach T2. McG said that this film will please fans, and believe me, he was right.
Dont go and read the other replies unless youre comfortable with spoilers, too much trolls on the terminator board saying that having it as pg-13 is a bad move, how much mcG sucks and people giving out fake reviews.
