Guys, May I know if I can pay my AMEX Maybank card bill by transferring the money from Public Bank online to the AMEX card number stated on the AMEX card?

I do not have Maybank2U yet and I learnt that I have to go to Maybank to register for online bill.

Thank you.

Yes, you can using Interbank Fund Transfer.

You doesn't need M2U to pay your AMEX outstanding.

I found that the T&C a bit misleading. Amex charge 2.5%, Mastercard charge 1%.

But when you look at the effective translation, Amex worked out better.

Let me show you 2 transactions on the same day 13 November 2014. i was in Thailand.
Spent THB 175.82 in Central World, Bangkok with MASTERCARD - statement appear RM18.43 (which means RM1 can exchange for 9.5398 THB)

Spent THB 7,200 in Chiang Mai with AMEX - statement appear RM752.99 (which means RM1 can exchange 9.5618 THB)
The above transaction show that RM is worth more under Amex rate, had i used Mastercard to pay for the transaction in Chiang Mai, the statement amount would have been RM754.72.

RM1.73 or 0.23% more expensive than Amex.
In this case, i suspect upfront Mastercard charge 1%, indirectly charge another 1.73%, thats why end up 0.23% more expensive than Amex.
But  then again,  hmm.gif these transactions are not swiped back to back, they are swiped at least few hours apart from each other.

In 2013, when I visit Korea. I bought railway ticket, the cashier gave me 2 bill, (one is from Seoul goto A, another is A back to Seoul) both same amount. I swipe with MBB AMEX and MBB Visa, max 5 mins in between 2 swipe.

When my MBB bill came, AMEX is cheaper than Visa. rolleyes.gif

Maybe AMEX and Visa using different exchange rate, and AMEX rate is better than VISA even with 2.5% admin charge but still cheaper than Visa.

I'm thinking of replacing this card with another card. Any good recommendation? I'm currently holding the HLB Wise and Aeon Watami.

if possible, keep the amex for weekend dining. mastercard ikhwan replaces the m2card's visa/mastercard instead.

so, u still carry 2 cards with dining (amex) and petrol/groceries (mc ikhwan) sweat.gif

unless u seldom do dining outside or dining outlets not accepting amex or to reduce cards or increase mc ikhwan application success rate smile.gif
