I did call them to enquire about this matter. The first time I called, they said 2weeks. But I called again, and they said can be upto 3months. Of course I will keep calling them when times come.
*
i call and they said 1-2 week. i went straight to the centre and they said i can offset my account around the same period.
btw already got people get the cheque delivered to their address in 3 weeks. so for me it's already impressive and it's acceptable.
if u just wait for the system to sort it itself (just like what i did previously) then u'll receive it in minimum of 3 months.

DiGi postpaid also offer hand phone bundle where u can get the phone for as low as 99sen

Well... i assume you are on Postpaid.
If you are.... Yes, postpaid users must clear off the payment 1st before you can MNP to others.
It is not only Celcom, all Telcos are having that "rules". It is one of the MNP Rules & Regulations indeed.

And, your friend successfully ported to DiGi without problem ? is he/she on Prepaid or Postpaid ?
Normally prepaid... it is regardless to how much $$ you have in there, once MNP, all the credit will be gone.

Hope that clears your doubts

yup u need to clear first your bill before can perform porting.
btw if your current bill is bearable by your deposit (e.g. having deposit of RM100 while the current bill is below RM100) then they will just deduct the amount before the transfer is done. and the remaining balance will be sent (better request for it) on cheque via mail.

having maxis postpaid changed to hotlink prepaid will set u around RM30. plus need to personally go to maxis centre (not the appointed reseller). and have to be eligible before can perform it (need to be on postpaid for at least 6 months). so straightly porting should be the simplest path to follow.
btw sometimes an appointed reseller will tell u some BS. got someone in my family that want to port straight from maxis postpaid to another telco's prepaid, but the reseller told a BS story that they can't perform that. end up he checks and perform MNP via internet and it already being processed.

the cheap phones does come with contract. please consult the MNP terms and conditions. u cant port number that's still on contract.
and remember though that contract doesnt only apply on plans that comes with free/cheap phones. some plan requires u to sign for contract (myb 24 months). u can check with your current plan before proceeding. if u r on contract, u can only portover after the contact period lapses. or alternatively if there is some way to perform early termination u can proceed with that. btw it will not be worth to get a phone and straightly switch the network.

Yes, for postpaid need to clear the outstanding bill but if you are stuck with the latest bill and if it hasn't reached; you can still proceed with MNP and settle it once you receive the last bill.

not to clear your unbilled amount but the last bill amount which is due for payment. As for the unbilled amount, you would have to wait the for the bill from Maxis..

lolz..
picture of digi going to maxis to do transactions = priceless
maybe he is there to do some MNP transactions for his customers who ported from maxis to digi? to clear their barrings.. etc etc

Added on October 20, 2008, 12:51 pm
the reason you're getting emergency calls only, but full bar is because the full bar is referring to other networks your phone capture.. but for digi it doesn't capture enough signal to be able to use.

today this digi dealer make his payment , he is still using maxis line ...

Agree! Maxi$ is the worst in term value for money service. Between Celcom and DiGi, generally DiGi is better except for their UNIVERSITY package which CELCOM trounce DiGi big time.
