I recently bought a Edifier S350DB, using it with my PC, and still not so sure about one thing, and that is which connectivity input is the best that I should use. Basically, there are 3 options for me that I know, and they are as following:-
A) RCA (via 3.5mm stereo jack output from motherboard)
B) Optical (via optical output port, also direct from motherboard)
C) Optical (via HDMI from my Graphic Card to my TV, and from TV optical out to S350DB. This option allows me to completely disable motherboard onboard audio)
Currently I'm using Option B, and not sure if it's the best yet. Some people told me I should buy a good dedicated sound card and switch to Option A, use RCA input. Can fellow sifu-sifu here provide some advice before I spend more money by buying a dedicated sound card.
Thank you.
unless you are using some junk laptop or cheapo handphone out as your source, I wouldn't really bother too much about connectivity as the difference is minute
Edifier gave you options so choose what's convenient.
I personally liked Edifier's built in DAC via optical sound as it is quite loud compared to my onboard.
But when compared side by side with my PCM2704 DAC vs onboard mobo realtek vs optical... I couldn't really differentiate it unless I try really hard as they all sound as good.
The only difference I heard was volume changes.
