bro can you tell me about the differences between each amp when paired with the X5 iii? And, how about just using X5 iii alone-is anything missing?
So I received my dac earlier than I expected. I've done an A B test since it was the most efficient way to tell any differents. I've listened in hi-gain in X5iii only, while paired with e17k & ha200 as an amp I've listened in low-gain setting. When using e17k as an amp, I've set the bass & treble boost to 0 as ha200 doesn't have a bass or treble boost. I'm using ath-ws1100is to do the comparison.
So, after repeatedly playing the playlist and constantly switched back and forth, my opinion was:
Listening to X5iii only - switching low & hi-gain have a slightly different. Hi-gain brings out a bit more of details. For me..even X5iii is a good DAP, but listened to X5iii itself without an external amp did not convey 100% details of the songs.
E17K as an amp - brings more details above than average. Also improve the low bass a bit.
Onkyo HA200 as an amp - brings more and more details also improved low bass. I'm able to listened 'grainy' sound in old recordings. All I can say is the guitar, cymbal, violin & kick drum sounds more lively.
So yeah, I rec'd the ha200. But I still wonder how fiio X5iii sounds when paired with Q5ii & A5 as amp..maybe you can tell me your impression once you audition this two amps..😁
