hi all sifus, i recently bought a Fiio X5iii, my cans are Final Audio Pandora IV, and Beyer Custom One Pro, and when i'm outside i use earpiece (now Monk Plus, and plan to get Tennmak Crazy Cello).

I wish to know from owners of Fiio X5iii: have you tried pairing it with Fiio A5? does it improve the x5iii significantly? Would you recommend it? Or other amps below RM 600 that are worth checking out?
*
I owned X5 mk3 too. I'm also curious how does it sound when paired with A5.
But then again, you can also consider the Q1 mk2.
Currently I paired my X5 mk3 with e17k. But now already bought Teac HA-P50.

Just got my magni 3 earlier today. First impression: neutral and warm. It literally depends on your source and smooth at the top end. It's like my mini ECP DSHA-0 for a 1/24 of its price. I'll write my full review for the magni 3 in a day or two  smile.gif

Keep listening bro and give full review..hehe.. 😎😎😎

I'll be here for the next two years but will be back after that. I am gonna be back next summer for three months and I will stop by at KLIAV. But yeah, the tax is so expensive. Just in case if anyone want to avoid tax, I can help bring back something next year. I can't bring a lot of stuff I guess  sweat.gif but I can help with something portable.
*
Haha..wish I could pick one item and ask for your help to bring back to Malaysia.. rclxub.gif

We usually do cargo shipping every year and it takes 2-3 month to arrive. If something heavy like full size DAC or Amp, cargo shipping is the better option. But if something portable like isine10, chord mojo or IEM. I can just put it in my laptop bag and fly back to Malaysia. Head-fi has a lot of used items, I can bring that back too.
*
Yeah bro..I'm thinking abt IEM or aftermarket cable. But then again, none of my bucketlist items were from US as most of them was from Japan, huhu.. πŸ˜‚

bro can you tell me about the differences between each amp when paired with the X5 iii? And, how about just using X5 iii alone-is anything missing?
*
Actually is an Onkyo DA200, sorry for my bad. But the specs are the same as Teac Ha-P50.
Should arrive by next week. I'll compare them both & give the impression later on.. thumbup.gif
I bought this DAC due to higher impedance & because my bucketlist 'cans' needs them..haha biggrin.gif

So I received my dac earlier than I expected. I've done an A B test since it was the most efficient way to tell any differents. I've listened in hi-gain in X5iii only, while paired with e17k & ha200 as an amp I've listened in low-gain setting. When using e17k as an amp, I've set the bass & treble boost to 0 as ha200 doesn't have a bass or treble boost. I'm using ath-ws1100is to do the comparison.

So, after repeatedly playing the playlist and constantly switched back and forth, my opinion was:

Listening to X5iii only - switching low & hi-gain have a slightly different. Hi-gain brings out a bit more of details. For me..even X5iii is a good DAP, but listened to X5iii itself without an external amp did not convey 100% details of the songs.
E17K as an amp - brings more details above than average. Also improve the low bass a bit.
Onkyo HA200 as an amp - brings more and more details also improved low bass. I'm able to listened 'grainy' sound in old recordings. All I can say is the guitar, cymbal, violin & kick drum sounds more lively.

So yeah, I rec'd the ha200. But I still wonder how fiio X5iii sounds when paired with Q5ii & A5 as amp..maybe you can tell me your impression once you audition this two amps..😁

sounds like you prefer the Onkyo more than the E17K. I have been busy these few weeks, haven't got time to try yet. One of these days must go to Stars Picker Audio Cafe in Kota Damansara and try out their amps. Have you been there before? I personally like this place better than Jaben.
*
I've been there at Star Picker once & actually bought E17K from them. Will go there again to test few headphones but don't know when, hehe..

Guys, anyone know here in KL where to repair dac/amp? Mine one is a smsl dac/amp. The sound coming out from the dac was breaking badly. It was a brand new but instead of replacing the item, the seller will bear the cost of repair. Dang it, this thing killin' me.. πŸ˜‘
