I use it mainly for my mmorpg.. Only once in awhile for Cs go and pubg.. Usually will be playing ffxiv and listening to Sawano Hiroyuki tongue.gif

And thanks.. Haha.. Feels like I'm late to the party..
Any dac amps to recommend? Budget around 1-1.5k.. Won't buy so soon.. Just keeping an eye out.  Hmm.. Just curious.. Is HD6xx really like what other say that it's worth it?
*
the HD6XX scales up with better amp. I've upgraded my setup 3 times now and it's getting better everytime. Currently, I'm waiting for ECP amp and I can only imagine that it turns out even better.

Too bad we cannot put the itemized list inside our profile like Head-Fi. There you can put your owned, owning, and want to own items as well as other information.
*
True. I just copied my detail from Head-fi for the signature. Too lazy to write other thing.

Regarding wireless headphones, how reliable is the internal battery?
*
It really depends on headphone. My Jabra Move internal battery died after a year due to excessive gym use (I guess).

You can also consider SMSL, Topping, Audio-GD. None are balanced in your price range though. If you want balanced you need to increase your budget.
*
I second Audio-gd but yeah, might need to increase the budget.

Yes if possible can plugin my hifiman he400i biggrin.gif

P/s:prefer dac/amp that support DSD playback.

the cheapest yet quality DSD playback amp/dac that I can think of is iDSD nano. less than rm1000.

QUOTE(okf987 @ Sep 19 2017, 01:34 PM)
Hi I need some advice on getting amp/dac for my upcoming hd6xx.

In preparation before hd6xx ships around dec any advice on getting a amp/dac combo?

Please note I won't be upgrading beyond my hd6xx I consider this my end-game.

I did some research on schitt stack plus a number of upcoming dac/amp combo on massdrop but I am still undecided as to what I should go for.

For budget I probably go as high as Jotunheim but if that is overkill for hd6xx do let me know.

Thanks for reading looking forward to all your advice/recommendations please help me as I am by no means an expert.
*
I own HD6XX for about a year now and it is definitely a keep. I have been changing my setup every now and then; so far, it just keep getting better. LCX would be my preferred choice but make sure you run it through balance. Note that, Jot has a good amp section but not Dac. iDSD black label is quite good actually.

Thanks for the replies smile.gif

I currently have fiio e10k so an upgrade is in order.

ahmadfaizadnan

I assume when you mentioned LCX its the Cavalli Liquid Carbon on massdrop? I don't wanna wait till feb next year since my hd6xx arrives in dec.

I was thinking of going for the Jotunheim now that you mention their dac isnt any good would I schitt stack suffice?

Magni 3 + Modi 2?

Or should I just stick with my e10k till feb 2018 and get one of massdrops dac/amp?
*
Yup, the massdrop Liquid Carbon and yeah, the waiting time is a bummer indeed. I owned LC V1 from cavalli and I am surprised how good that pair was. The bass is tighter and it doesn't bleed to the mids. The treble is amazing because it is pushed a bit forward and the soundstage is a tad bigger. Now that I use a 4 times more expensive amp, I felt like the LC comes quite close when I use HD6XX. Separation, clarity and more pronounced treble are the main improvements but by a small margins. But, the case is different with HD800. HD800 drastically improves with my current amp.

This is assumed that the LCX has the same sound as LC. We never know until we get the real thing. I had bifrost+valhalla2 in the past and they are quite good. Although, instead of buying that, I would suggest you go for modi multibit and LCX. By the way, what is your budget? It is easier to suggest what's good for you if we know what is your budget.

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Sep 20 2017, 05:46 PM)
If you want to go the Cavalli route i'd opt for their CTH amp instead. HD6XX is already warm sounding, I wouldn't want to pair that with a warm sounding dac/amp, unless that is your preference.
*
True, I wouldn't want that either. I have tried the HD6XX with mojo and it doesn't suits me. Regarding the CTH amp, I have a thought that it could be warmer than LC since it's a hybrid.

Early reviews so far classify the CTH more towards neutral though with a slight tinge of warmth.
*
Yeah. I've read that. I guess because the 6922 tube is more on the neutral side plus it's a hybrid amp. I used ecc88 before and it is warmer than the valhalla stock tube.

QUOTE(okf987 @ Sep 21 2017, 01:52 AM)
When I ordered my hd6xx I thought I was going to be fine with the wait time.. boy was I wrong.

I am not sure if I can stand waiting till feb 2018 for CTH/LCX and just like you said there is no one tested/review it yet iinm.

Budget I mentioned previously, Jotunheim with the dac so about $499.

On second thought I would much prefer something below half that price as I really don't plan on getting an upgrade over hd6xx. Unless that amount is needed to push hd6xx to its max potential do let me know.

And regarding the massdrop CTH/LCX they are just about the right price for my budget but is it worth the wait for something not reviewed yet idk.
*
here is one of the review of the CTH

https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/massd...-amp-cth-page-2

AFAIK, we never had any review on the LCX though. I know numbers of us who love the jot and HD650 combo and I believe it'll satisfy you. If you wanna use jot, I recommend you use the balanced out. I am not sure how to suggest an amp that could maximize the potential of HD6XX because it never know it's limit brows.gif But, bottlehead crack is a stellar match with HD6XX. It's just that, it doesn't come with DAC; so you might need to find a DAC if you decide on getting the crack

means you are selling your amp? hmmmmmmmm? brows.gif  brows.gif
including shipping its about rm600

Nope. Not my current amp. The thing is my current amp only has balanced output but yeah all my three main cans are balanced. I just want a decent single ended amp to fit other headphones too.

I am currently selling my Dac and Wyrds innocent.gif

Judging from it's name, there might be a "non-mini" version comes out in the future. It would be amazing if that version has both balanced and unbalanced input/output because it could accommodate both amps at the same time. I guess I'll wait then rolleyes.gif

My Magni 3 arrives tomorrow and will definitely give my insights about it here.

Me too actually. But I am gonna wait for Loki-2 I guess. Hope that they have both balance and RCA input/output. Loki really fits my need but no balance for now T.T

Just got my magni 3 earlier today. First impression: neutral and warm. It literally depends on your source and smooth at the top end. It's like my mini ECP DSHA-0 for a 1/24 of its price. I'll write my full review for the magni 3 in a day or two smile.gif

Did you get tax for it on arrival? I think amps have a 15% + 6% tax here.

I am currently in USA, so just regular tax and shipping from schiit.

QUOTE(b3x @ Oct 1 2017, 05:13 PM)
just got my hd600, hook on DAc-X6. it has enough to power it. just wondering if a magni 3 would make any changes.

Congratulations for 600's. I have HD6XX and will listen to it with magni 3 later today because all this time I pair the magni 3 with HD800 SDR and westone 30; they sound pretty good nod.gif

So lucky staying there. I slapped with 15% + 6% tax for ordering Schiit Mani. *sigh*
*
I'll be here for the next two years but will be back after that. I am gonna be back next summer for three months and I will stop by at KLIAV. But yeah, the tax is so expensive. Just in case if anyone want to avoid tax, I can help bring back something next year. I can't bring a lot of stuff I guess sweat.gif but I can help with something portable.
