Hi All, just want to share my experience. I came across one air con installer named KW Mega Aircon and his boss name is Lim. First he send one guy and do site inspection. After that i received quotation from him and price is quite attractive. I do compare with others contractor but seems this Lim price is quite competitive then i decided to award to him. When work started then nightmare came. His worker complained my wall is too hard because got metal reinforced and not normal bricks then asked for additional cost.  Also then water piping run too long and need addtional cost. In fact his first guy already inspected the site and should already included in the quote and how come all this hidden cost come later? I just wonder will he charge me later when the compressor is heavy than normal one? So guys, please beware on this contractor and his boss is speak nicely when ask for your job. Thanks.
*
You should immediately ask him to stop the job.

Make it clear before can continue. Otherwise terminate the job and get another.

My Panasonic 1.5p non-invertor compressor is spoil. If changed by panasonic authorised contractor need RM450 (but heard from fren, with this price, then it might be second hand). Anyone has experience?
*
Authorised give you 2nd hand spare part?

If 3rd party, I would believe.

u never heard what is "window unit"?

probably refrigerant leak.
So have to check for leakage and top up gas.
*
I m ask where he get this window type aircon.

Not what is this aircon.

You know Malaysia no more selling such window type.

I m looking a window type aircon with smaller HP. Like 1/2hp. For research purpose.

What is the break even point/durations of using an inverter air conditioner to repay back using the TNB bill savings for the initial high cost of buying an inverter compare to use a non inverter air conditioner?

In other words, what is the ROI of an inverter air conditioner purchase?
*
Between a yrs for my case.

The reason I ask because some of my rooms only use max 5 hours per week, not sure it is valuable to buy an inverter compared to non inverter.
*
Yes, Doesn't matter the hour.

I thought the more the a/c being used, then the faster is the ROI?
*
Yes, you still get your ROI.

QUOTE(bobby85 @ Aug 29 2017, 06:31 PM)
guys...need some help
i've got an aircond - 2.0hp which is already very old (heard of the 'i' brand) and it's having some issue now. The said unit must have been around for more than 10 years liao.

So to get to the point, the pipe is concealed inside the wall.
If i were to change a new aircond (2.0hp)...is there any way that they don't need to hack the wall to replace the piping? (as nowadays the refrigerant used is different edi, so surely need to replace the piping)
*
For save, you can get back the non inverter type. Gas is no different.

Or want to confirm, get a aircon service to help you check the aircon. Than ask him what is that pipe size and what he recommend. But you need to pay the service.

This is pretty normal. Not too many.

Some of this fin is repair in the manufacturing when damage by some handling process.

They do sell AC fin straighteners in the market. I have seen it somewhere on the web but can't recall the links at hand.
*
No need lah.

If you want to repair it, just get a long nose plier or a flat tweezer will do.

But such very tiny amount of damage won't effect the efficiency.

Well, those who are adept at DIY may not require it but for the benefit of those who are curious, it's called an air conditioner fin comb. The 'repair' process is called air conditioner fin straightening.

Yup I know.

I work in those manufacturing dept before.

If I pay for a normal aircon say, RM2.5k top model and every yrs service clean cost RM300 (Most expensive), and if it can last for 20yrs, it will only cost me 2.5k + (300x20) = RM8.5k.

I still have left RM500 to belanja you TT. tongue.gif

You want to buy ?

Sold in ME market where extreme outdoor temperature normally kills the compressor. It's rated for 65°C outdoor.

Other than that, the features is quite impressive with comfort sleep and indoor unit cleaning (mould prevention).
*
Aircon selling in middle east have different spec than others country. Since mostly the climate there is hot, the power wattage is higher to run. Or the differential indoor and outdoor temperature is greater. Like outdoor ambient temperature is 40°C and the aircon indoor must generate 25°C.

We don't need the aircon work that hard here. Our climate not that crazy hot.

I know. Just clarifying the spec with fixgd. This would be a parallel import as LG site here don't have it.

Such too precise temperature doing no good to us.

You will have problem with outdoor or even sleep at other place. My some sort of experience.

QUOTE(halcyon27 @ Dec 1 2017, 08:05 PM)
It's the other way round for me bro. My health improved with it. The smaller the fluctuation the better. It's not precise just minute in temp variation. The trick now is to keep at 28°C and 2 speed ceiling fan. The wind chill effect brings it down but the humidity is comfortable enough. We're only sleeping in shorts and shirt and without blanket. But if needed then it's a fleece blanket from Home Harmony.

In order to sleep with a non inverter, the temp swing plus minus must be beyond the discomfort level when temp rises after compressor cut off. The only choice for this is to set it below 23°C. My friends and older relatives does this and wonder why they cough and have dry skin and throat. Old mind set hard to change. The younger friends who are newly parents with kids I'm able to persuade for their baby's and young children sake and their experience bear out if they are willing to change to inverters. For adult and young children (except babies or toddlers), sleep wear is according to climate and weather: Shorts and singlet or tshirt. Blanket too: cotton fleece blanket or summer blanket or sarong. AC use minimal cool at highest humidity as comfortably can aided by ceiling fan to induce wind chill. Or dry mode. Drink lots of water.

Now in my circumstance, AC at this time of the year is not needed having moved back to condo and thank God for moving wind.
*
It is not the health problem. Have no health problem even sleep with aircon for more than 20yrs.

It is adapting to different environment when you getting old.

Almost each day, I m in aircon about 20hr with average temp 24-26. You will have a hard time to adjust yourself to different temperature and take longer time. Will become too sensetive to temperature change.
