And for the argument in this thread. As everyone wish what is need to be tested for inverter and non inverter. I will gladly solve for you guys. Perhaps some video and pictures to proof the myth of how to save current. I know who's right or wrong. But still keep silence as I don't want more arguments. I have the tools for current caculation. Using amp meter can't prove much. Cheers guys!
*
My best prove is the tnb bill. And I already run the inverter for 8yrs.

The amount of saving in 8yrs compare previous non inverter is enough for me to get a new aircon.

And I laughing at people who still arguing till now.

It is Panasonic. Don't have any problem at all till now.

Estimate run another 2-4yrs before change to new 1.

Enough saving to get a new 1.

QUOTE(Richard @ May 9 2016, 08:18 AM)
well said..

As pointed out per Energy Star label eg. Panasonic 1hp inverter (vs non-inverter) saves 1000 kwH a year (at 8 hrs/day, 365 days/yr), at RM0.45/kwH (>300kWh for SESB tariff DM1) that works out to RM450 savings annually.

Even if you don't use the same number of hours my opinion you will get back the cost difference within 3 yrs and then start savings from then on.. its a no brainer..
*
I use 8hr everyday.

Use more or less is just save more or less. Longer or shorter payback. It is still saving.

Most of the people cannot understand the saving is because

1)they don't have old aircon to compare the bill.
2) the initial cost is difficult to pay. Different a lot compare.
3) not enough budget if you renovate the house.

Yes.. I actually given up trying to explain to this forum..

My English very poor.. I have trouble in communication.. i get too technical or too aggressive ..
Sad.. so I keep quiet most times..
*
Don't worry about it. Just do our best.

Most of the time I also ignore it as I already repeat many time for many yrs to explain.

Understand the people here and treat them as idiot. biggrin.gif

So don't use too technical to explain. They are a normal consumer with just using feeling to judge.

oic..
do u use the 'Econavi' function which panasonic now promotes to be able to save 65% energy?
is it required to use that function to save 65%? if don't use it, will it be wasting more energy?
as i see it, other brands do not promote that function but still mentioning the same saving 65%, like daikin..
*
Yup, and all the mode leave it at AUTO.

Lets the program to the job. It will optimise the saving.

have you tried not switching off the double pole switch (the one with the red light)?
the annoying part of panasonic AC is they tend to 'forget' our settings once power is cut to the unit.
*
You don't need to switch off the main. Just the remote OFF is ok.

any comment towards these two model? thanks
*
Have 1 install this yrs. Mitsu electric inverter.

Brought for quiet and easy clean.

But can't comment much. As I don't use it. For guest room only.

I think most of the AC about the same pricing, unless its on promotion. Its been a while so cant really remember the price, 2HP = rm2k and 1HP=1k, plus minus 100 bucks, I guess.

I purchased it at Subang, Taipan
*
Can get as cheap as 1hP - RM750. Daikin.

I have 4 units of Sharp air-cond in my condo.
2 of the units have problems. 1 in my master bedroom makes a lot of noise and when I checked - the coil has ice on it. This happens usually midnight when I am asleep.

2nd unit is another room - water leaking issue.

Anybody has the same experience with the same brand?

Thank you.
*
Installation problem.

1) probably gas leaking
2) water pipe stuck or aircon not tilt enough to the drain pipe side.

Get an installer to rectify it.

Last week suddenly the aircon timer blinking when power ON. Than shutdown. The timer keep blinking.

Read the manual. Follow the instruction to find out the cause.

For Panasonic inverter, there is some error code display on the remote LCD for diagnostic. Whit perform some button input.

Found out the error code is H11. Which is communication pc board or wiring problem between indoor and outdoor unit.

Call the Panasonic SC and pass me their dealer contact. Told them the error code.

Lastly it is the wire to the outdoor unit corrode. Cut away the corrode portion and joint back. Cost RM80.

You can always diagnose yourself the aircon problem when it have indication display. Read the manual how to display the error code. The error code detail explanation can be google out.

same as mine, i asked the installer, it is as per design..

anyhow.. water needs way to go out.. so i think it is why the hole is there.. else if water trapped inside compressor it will be nightmare..
*
The water won't be trap inside the compressor la. Even no hole, the water will comeout from the round fan open.

The hole is provide for release out the water. Accumulated in the bottom pan.

Water condense from the cold uninsulated copper pipe. And rain water if place the unit outdoor.

I'm surveying for a 1.5/2HP unit and I'm getting mixed feedback on each brand. It seems that each shop is trying to push certain brand and telling different story.

1. Mitsubishi Electric
- Most reliable.
- Highest cost for unit and spare parts

2. Panasonic
- Reliable. Standard price. Easy spare parts
- Customer service (warranty) not so good.

3. Daikin
- Reliable. Easy spare parts
- Price a bit higher than Panasonic. Now just a re-brand of York?

4. York.
- Historically good. Cheaper than Pana/Daikin.
- Now under new company. Re-brand of OEM from China?

5. Medea/Heier
- Cheaper price.
- Parts are difficult to get.

6. Hisense
- Cheapest of all.
- Quite new.

Getting more confuse now.  rclxub.gif

Actually what are you trying to compare and buy?

This is internet age, You don't need the shop to push you around.

Read, learn and aim at the brand and model you want. get the lowest price and order.

I guess just have to pick a model and find a good price for it. Thanks

You don't need to look at the spare part cost.

A good aircon can last very long.

By the time it spoil, you can change a new 1. No use to repair it.

Like mine, today my wife call saying air cond not cold.

She said compressor not kicking.

Should i change new air cond? Or ask ppl to check?

My aircond was year 2010  biggrin.gif

Check for any error code or light blink indicate some problem. Call the SC to inform them what happen.

Judge yourself if the repair cost is expensive or cheap.

I'm using MHI for almost 10 years now, so far it has been reliable only few times changed some capacitors, it also overhauled few times. I believe it should last longer if we service the air cons regularly.
*
It doesn't sound reliable to me. When in 10yrs have to change parts few time and overhauled a few times.

A reliable is mean no interruption using in a long period of time.

BTW, why you want to overhauled the aircon? I only heard people service and repair it.
