I passed Level 1 in June 2011. I'm just going there to give moral support to my fellow coursemates/juniors from Noesis. How about your revision?

Level 1's passing rate is lower in Dec (compared to June). And Malaysia's passing rate is much lower than the global average (<= 20%). If you're well prepared, there's nothing to be afraid of.

Yeap... Many people sign up and never study till the week/month before exam. Some never even prepare and go in to be slaughtered. Oh well.

In short, from the percentage that fails, a big portion of them didn't prepare well for the exam. Only a small portion failed because of random factors (e.g. sick, lack of focus, etc.)

So, hopefull you will be contributing to the pass % in June. =)

Thank you fino_abama. That was useful smile.gif

So you're saying that CFA institutes do sell it without needing you to register for the exams?

Don't mind getting CFA books second hand but apparently for 2012 CFA exams, there are changes in syllabus.

Added on November 30, 2011, 4:11 pmHey fino, were u taking CFA too? You seem to know quite a bit about the books used in CFA level 1. =D

I heard from someone that you can actually purchase the books from the Institute without registering for the exam. You can email them to ask.

There's a big revamp to the Economics section for 2012 syllabus and other topic areas. Best to get the latest syllabus if you just want to learn.

I'm in Level 2 now, so I know a thing or two about Level 1.

Been practicing Stalla's questions. But there are noticeably difference between CFA and Stalla's questioning style.

All the questions are derived from the textbooks. Straightforward or not, it's subjective. I will say most questions are straightforward but my coursemates might have different opinions. The only issue is the sheer volume of the syllabus.

Questions are separated by topic areas (ethics, qm, eco, etc)
