Hi all, still sorta new here. Anyways, I do plan to self-study CFA. So I'd like to get the materials but not register for the examination.
What are the books recommended for CFA level 1? Perhaps anyone has a list of essential books for CFA level 1?
Also, are these books readily available in major bookstores? If not, do I have to order it from the CFA institute? (without having to register for an exam)
Thank you

For the official textbooks for examination, you can either:
1) Buy it 2nd hand from an ex-exam candidate
2) Write in to the CFA Institute to ask if you can purchase the textbooks
The readings are all derived from chapters of books or journals, so hard to list all down here.
Some of the major books used are:
1) Quantitative Investment Analysis (CFA Institute Investment Series) by Richard A. DeFusco CFA, Dennis W. McLeavey CFA, Jerald E. Pinto CFA and David E. Runkle CFA
2) Equity Asset Valuation (CFA Institute Investment Series) by Jerald E. Pinto CFA, Elaine Henry CFA, Thomas R. Robinson CFA and John D. Stowe CFA
3) Fixed Income Analysis (CFA Institute Investment Series) by Frank J. Fabozzi CFA and Martin L. Leibowitz
4) Managing Investment Portfolios: A Dynamic Process (CFA Institute Investment Series) by John L. Maginn CFA, Donald L. Tuttle CFA, Dennis W. McLeavey CFA and Jerald E. Pinto CFA
