sunway charges will b higher

Expected. It's a collaboration between Sunway TES and AB Maximus. They will need to charge higher, if not, cannot break even/profit. But do you know the figures they are charging?

Just curious. which one do you think is a better option. CFA or MBA?I am currently an IT Professional who is very interested to get into Finance. Need some advice. Also can you tell me if I get into finance. Would they take into consideration the experience that I have in IT?

If I'm not mistaken, Sunway is offering RM 3.5k while KSA is offering RM 4.3k last I checked 2 years back. Assuming you did not qualify for KSA's fee reduction, Sunway is actually cheaper than KSA.

Can't comment on Noesis since I don't really know their rates.

taking CFA is a very specialized field, whereas an MBA teaches u the umbrella scope of managing a business. if u like in-depth finance stuffs, cfa is a good choice for u. CFA won't look at experience if you have any sort of degree..

Hi,
I am planning to take CFA level1 next year, most probably.
Just a simple question to ask,

for you guys that did CFA level1,

I find the sylabus coverage published on their website not quite clear. Just wanna clear some doubt:

Does CFA level1 in anyway cover  Option pricing? Portfolio management? and/or Foreign Currency Securities?

Thanks.
*
Option pricing -- Yes
Portfolio Management -- Yes
Foreign currency securities -- only in derivative contracts.

just those 3 don't make up to 30% of your exam scores...if u plan to pass, just focus financial statement analysis, corporate finance & ethics. more than enough to get a pass for your level I.

No, level 1 doesnt teach u how to price an option, no Black-scholes, no binomial pricing model.

Focusing only on FSA, CF, and Ethics is only about 50%. u will need ur Quants, Economics, Equity & Fixed Income

hey guys, wondering if anyone knw where i can get cheap/photostat CFA ref books. my fren in HK say thr he can buy any level books for abt rm20 per book. wondering if got things like tht in Malaysia.
*
Thats crazy. You cannot find pirated textbook in hk. All prices are according to official one. Even the photocopy shop won't help you to do the photocopying.

However, you can always "import" some book from taobao, type in CFA there and you can get high quality pirated materials at around Rm70, including 5 text book + a lot of bs*

You will have to register for the exam by yourself. Currently, Kasturi & Noesis are offering tuition classes for the CFA program. I heard from a forumer that Sunway TES is going to offer Level 1 classes for the Dec 2011 exam.

You need to be at least a final year student of a degree program to take Level 1. I recommend you to take ACCA and get yourself the OBU degree to qualify yourself for the CFA Level 1 and 2.
