Guys, who will benefit from CFA? Just asking cause I'm not so sure that should I be taking this paper or not...

My advice is that once you are taking it, will need lots of commitment.

That means sacrificing weekends and weekdays free time brows.gif

Folks, I am toying with idea to take CFA by self study, as I am working outstation, in a remote location. Has anyone here done this?

Questions:

1. How to register for CFA without going through any school?

2. Will I receive any study materials and syllabus after registering?

3. I assume I will be able to purchase additional study materials online or through mail.

Thanks for any guidance.

Hi, I've just registered for the CFA level 1 exam this coming December 2018 and opted for ebooks. Have some questions about the course:
1) Is it still possible to download the whole ebook in PDF format? I tried to print the materials from VitalSource Bookshelf but its giving me headache due to lots of print restriction. (I've read the guide on VitalSource's website, but it isn't helping the situation)
2) What are the tips in preparing for the exams? I almost fainted when I saw 6 textbooks which amounted to more than 3.2k pages.
3) Are there any tuition providers in 'Penang' or online forums for CFA topics?

Really appreciate if someone could share their experience.

1) you can register by go to their website and then make payment via credit card.

2) after registration, you will be directed to a software called vitalsource, where e-books will be provided.

1) my friend did it before by using macbook. he copy paste the pdf file or something. not sure. try google?

2) not much tips. just read and understand. tongue.gif if you are a finance or accounting grad, you should able to flip at least 30 pages in 5mins once you touch the relevant subjects. ahahah. true story. what you going to learn in cfa level 1 is basically first or second year of your finance/acc degree.

3) can try analystforum.com ... there are some local tuition provider provide online course, meaning, you attend the course via webcam since you cant physically joiin the class as it held in kl.

for level 1, highly not recommended to use last year book. cause the changes are major usually in level 1 or 2.

or you can try pdf the ebook and then go printing shop to make copy?

Not sure about the career progression of CFA.

If I am a CFA holder, do my chances of getting into IB in top banks, say Maybank and CIMB higher?
*
To become a chartered holder, you need to have 4 years of relevant work experience on top of passing all 3 exams.

If you already in the industry, i dont think CFA will add alot of value in entering top tier IBs.

If you are not, then, passing the exams will definitely add value to your CV.

Hi guys, I have been working as an engineer (engineering degree) for around 10 years. Would passing all 3 levels open new doors for me into the financial sector? Thank you....
