Folks, I am toying with idea to take CFA by self study, as I am working outstation, in a remote location. Has anyone here done this?

Questions:

1. How to register for CFA without going through any school?

2. Will I receive any study materials and syllabus after registering?

3. I assume I will be able to purchase additional study materials online or through mail.

Thanks for any guidance.

1) just register through their website
2) yes, you'll receive the ebook
3) yes, for additional $250 if im not mistaken

Hi, I've just registered for the CFA level 1 exam this coming December 2018 and opted for ebooks. Have some questions about the course:
1) Is it still possible to download the whole ebook in PDF format? I tried to print the materials from VitalSource Bookshelf but its giving me headache due to lots of print restriction. (I've read the guide on VitalSource's website, but it isn't helping the situation)
2) What are the tips in preparing for the exams? I almost fainted when I saw 6 textbooks which amounted to more than 3.2k pages.
3) Are there any tuition providers in 'Penang' or online forums for CFA topics?

Really appreciate if someone could share their experience.

1) u can't print the whole book
2) if u haven't notice, the average hours needed to pass the exam is 300 hours
3) no idea

Well we do have our own papers that we can take, that would give us designations. But beyond that if you want to move up the upper level management, won’t having more qualifications help?

CFA would only be useful if your end goal is to be a portfolio manager.
MBA would only be useful if it's from a top uni (think M7, LBS, INSEAD, etc..).

My 2 cents confused.gif .
